Our PrintingPress design is perfect for any dad who loves to spend an occasional Sunday at the links. A pair of crossed golf clubs sits at the top of a White A7 card. Beneath the drivers, we added Dad’s first name in red using the Arial font in all lowercase letters. Then we added Dad’s last name on the next line in gray using all uppercase letters. To tighten the first and last names, we selected the names and chose Format Paragraph in the Stationery menu. Then we set the Line Spacing to Exactly and set the Points to 22. We repeated the same design on the front of a White A2 folded note card. We lined the Pewter envelopes in Deep Red and added coordinating Custom Image StationeryStamps.

If your father would prefer a day on the open water, check out our PrintingPress Platinum design. We started by adding a blue anchor as a floating image in the bottom left corner of an Ecru A7 card. Next, we used a floating text box to add Dad’s initials in royal blue using the Times New Roman font. We centered the initials on the anchor, which is floating off the edge of the card. We repeated the same design on the front of an Ecru 4-bar folded note card. Since both designs bleed off the edge of the card, we used our printer’s borderless printing feature. We lined the Midnight envelopes in Ecru and added coordinating Custom Image StationeryStamps.

Our PrintingPress Extreme 5.0 design is perfect for a dad with more modern tastes. We added a custom border to a White A7 card and set the border’s shape to Line (Top). We filled the border with a new going dotty (brown, blue & green) pattern. Next, we added a 4 point inner pen to the border and used the Sample Color tool to match the brown used in the pattern. We used a floating text box to add Dad’s initials and name in the center of the border. We added the initials in green and blue and the name in brown, using the Arial font with the Small Caps text case. We increased the character spacing on the text box for an airy look. Next, we disabled the text box’s Make white transparent setting so that the background remains white, and added a 2 point brown custom border with the border’s shape set to Notched Rectangle (Landscape). We disabled the text box’s Resize text box to fit text setting and stretched the text box to make it taller. Since the border runs all the way to the edge of the card, we used our printer’s borderless printing feature. We added a similar design to the front of a White A2 folded note card. We filled a custom background with the pattern, and set the background’s margins to 0.25 inches. Then we added a 2 point custom border with the margins set to 0.25 inches as well. We centered the floating text box on the card, increased the point size and stretched it to be bigger. Finally, we lined the Dusty Blue envelopes in Chocolate and added coordinating Custom Image StationeryStamps.

Packing the stationery won’t guarantee you’ll get updates, but it definitely increases your chances! We’ve included adorable coordinating StationeryStamps to go with each of our designs, so your kids will be the envy of every cabin. One tip to make sure you get a few notes: pre-address a few envelopes to yourself!

Some things never go out of style, and our PrintingPress design updates the classic peace symbol with fresh polka dots. We added a pink polka dot peace sign to the top of a White A7 card and then added the name using the Girls are Weird font from the Easy Invitations Bonus Content CD in pink, blue, green and brown. We added several blank lines and then added a sequence of polka dotted peace signs at the bottom of the card using the same colors. We added three large peace signs to the front of a White A2 folded note card with the name beneath the trio. We lined the Magenta envelopes in Powder Blue and added polka dot peace (multi) Personalized StationeryStamps.

If your camper dreams of hanging ten, then check out our PrintingPress Platinum design. We added a surfer riding a wave as a floating image to the bottom of a White A7 card. We added the name in orange and blue at the top of the card using the Arial font in all lowercase letters. Since the water runs all the way to the edge of the card, we used our printer’s borderless printing feature. We added the surfer without the wave to the front of a White A2 folded note card, and added the name aligned to the right margin at the bottom of the card. We lined the Mandarin Orange envelopes in Sky and added surfer (aqua & orange) Personalized StationeryStamps.

Our PrintingPress Extreme 5.0 design is perfect for any groovy girl. We started by adding the camper’s name using the Times New Roman font in all uppercase letters at the top of a White A7 card. We filled the text with a new peace patchwork pattern and added a 2 point magenta outline to the text. For tips on making your own patchwork pattern, see this month’s Extreme Tip. Next, we added a custom border with the border’s shape set to Line (Top), set the border’s width to 1.875 inches, filled the border in light pink and added a 3 point magenta inner pen to the border. We repeated the same design on the front of a White 4-bar folded note card but set the border’s shape to Line (Bottom). Since both designs run to the edge of the card, we used our printer’s borderless printing feature. We lined the Magenta envelopes in Chocolate and added coordinating Custom Image StationeryStamps.

Patch it together...
You’ve heard of the custom pattern tool in PrintingPress Extreme 5.0, but did you know that you can create a patchwork pattern using a series of square or rectangular patterned shapes? Like a quilt, a patchwork pattern uses a collection of several patterns seamed together to create a larger pattern. We started by creating a 5.875 x 5.625 inch card in PrintingPress Extreme to use as our canvas for our patchwork pattern. Next, we added a 2.458 x 2 inch shape object to the upper left corner of the card and filled it with a new peace signs (pastel) pattern.

Next, we added a shape and filled it with a blue and white polka dot pattern. Then we added another shape which we filled with a solid pink background and added repeated text to the background, repeating the word “peace” and a peace sign from a symbol font.

We continued to add shape objects filled with different patterns until we had a total of nine shapes. In order to make the patchwork more interesting, we kept the columns all the same width but varied the height of each “patch.”

Once you have added all of the patterns that you would like to use, make sure that the entire card is completely covered, with no visible white space at any of the edges. Then choose Print to Graphics File in the File menu and save your patchwork pattern image to your hard disk. We recommend that you create a 300 dpi PNG file. Now you can use your patchwork pattern to fill any text, border, background or shape in PrintingPress Extreme 5.0. In this month’s Extreme Camp Stationery project, we filled used the pattern to fill text. Just select Choose / Adjust pattern in the Color menu and click on the Browse button to locate your pattern image file. Then use the Scale slider to adjust the scale of your pattern and you’re all set.
