-------------------- Eat, Drink and Be Married --------------------
April showers bring May flowers, which are perfect for wedding bouquets! Can you tell that we’ve got weddings on our minds? We’ve created some fabulous new wedding invitation designs that have a modern, urban flair. All of our wedding invitation designs feature our thick Natural Cotton stock for that extra touch of luxury. After printing, we used a corner punch to round the corners of all of the cards for a modern look. Want to see what’s hot for weddings now? Check out Sharon Naylor’s 2014 Top Wedding Trends article.
Our PrintingPress 7.0 design takes a new twist on the chevron trend. We added an image of yellow zig zag lines in different thicknesses to the bottom of a Natural Cotton A7 card. We wrote the invitation text in grey and yellow using the Georgia font that is included with Windows in a combination of all uppercase and all lowercase letters. We added a larger version of the chevron image on the back of the card so that it fills the entire background. We used the same text styling for the front of the Natural Cotton 4-Bar response card and repeated the modern chevron design on the back of the card. Since the chevrons run to the edge of the card, we used our printer’s borderless printing feature to print both the invitation and response card. We lined the White envelopes in Pewter for an elegant look.
Want something with a bit of whimsy? Check out our PrintingPress Platinum 7.0 design. We created a new take on the duogram. We started by adding a clean, simple “X” image to the top of the Natural Cotton Square invitation card and colorized the “X” to dark grey. Next, we added a tiny outlined heart image in the top of the “X” image and used the Colorize tool to make it pink. Next, we used floating text boxes to add the bride and groom’s initials in dark grey using the Trebuchet font that is included with Windows. We used a third floating text box to add the wedding date in the bottom section of the “X.” We used the Trebuchet font in all capital letters for all of the text on the invitation. We added the bride and groom’s full names in pink and wrote the rest of the text in dark grey. We used the same text styling for the design on the Natural Cotton 4-Bar vertical response card. We lined the White envelopes in Blush for a splash of color.
Our PrintingPress Extreme 7.0 design will definitely stand out in a crowd. We started by filling the background of the Natural Cotton A7 invitation in grey. We used a combination of the Trebuchet font, the Isabelle font from Fonts & Graphics 2, and the Palatino Linotype font that is included with Windows to add all of the text to the invitation in a combination of white, green and dark grey. We added two banner images and colorized them to dark grey and used a shape object to add a white circle outlined in green. We used floating text boxes to bend some of the text into arcs, and wrote the year in dotted outline. For tips on creating the dotted outline text, see this month’s Extreme Tip. Since the grey background runs to the edge of the invitation, we used our printer’s borderless printing feature to print the invitation card. We repeated the circle and banner on the Natural Cotton 4-Bar response card, but left the background white. We added a banner with the words “kindly deliver to” on the outside of the White envelopes, which we lined in Avocado. You could easily change the colors of this design to suit any color scheme.

In the mood for something with a sense of humor? Try our PrintingPress 7.0 design featuring our new Cinnamon stationery now available in A7 and 4-Bar sizes. We started by adding a black and white “hazard” stripes as floating images on each side of the Cinnamon A7 card. Next, we added a faux rubber stamp of the word “COMPLETED” as a floating image at the top of the page. We added the invitation text in black using the Courier font that is included with Windows. Since the hazard lines run to the edge of the card, we used our printer’s borderless printing feature. We used the Velvet Fine Art Paper setting on our Epson R2000 for the best results with the Cinnamon. We repeated the hazard lines around the return address on the front of the Cinnamon A7 envelopes, which we lined in Deep Red.
Our PrintingPress Platinum 7.0 design is perfect for the minimalist in your life. We started by adding a floating text box to the left side of a Natural Cotton Square card. We typed ten rows of triangle characters “▼▼▼” using the Times New Roman font that is included with Windows. We selected one of the triangles and changed the text color to bright green. We typed the invitation in black using the Trebuchet font and wrote the graduate’s name in the same bright green. We used a floating text box to add a single giant triangle behind the return address on the front of the White Square envelope, which we lined in Bright Green.
Feeling colorful? Try our PrintingPress Extreme 7.0 design. We used a floating text box to add the graduation year using the Impact font that is included with Windows to the top of a Natural Cotton A7 card. We filled the text in a new patchwork chevron (multi) pattern and added a Double Shadow (down) using a green sampled from the pattern. We added the rest of the invitation text using the Trebuchet font in green and blue using a combination of all uppercase and all lowercase letters. We used floating text boxes to create two columns of text at the bottom of the card and separated the “columns” using a shape with a dotted line border. We filled the entire back of the card in the patchwork chevron (multi) pattern and used our printer’s borderless printing feature to print the card. After printing, we used a corner punch to round the corners of the invitation. We lined the White A7 envelopes in Cinnamon and printed a block of the patchwork chevron (multi) pattern from the front of the envelope onto the flap.

-------------------- Hollow Dotted Text --------------------
PrintingPress Extreme 7.0 offers new outline types for outlining text including Double Outline, Offset Outline, Dashed Outline and Dotted Outline. In this month’s Extreme Modern Wedding invitations, we created “hollow” dotted outlined text to write the year. How did we get the text to be hollow? It’s actually a pretty simple trick. First, we typed the text in white as shown below.
Next, we added a 2 point white outline to the text. As you can see, it looks quite thick.
Now the fun part: making the text hollow. All that you have to do is change the text color to the same color as the background. So we changed our white text to grey.
Next, we changed the text’s Outline Type to Dotted Outline.
To finish the look, we changed the Outline Spacing to 0.75 pt.
