Put it in your pocket
Pocket invitations are a beautiful way to showcase your wedding invitations and organize the additional inserts such as the response and directions cards. We have created some new vibrant designs featuring our elegant Mountaincow Metallic Pocket Folders. Remember that our Metallic stationery is not compatible with ink jet printers, so if you do not have a laser printer, make sure to use Matte cards and envelopes for anything that needs to be printed.

For a southwestern feel, try our PrintingPress design featuring aqua, black and coral hues. We started with a Pocket Folder in the A7 Portrait (rounded point flap) size. We added an aqua, coral and black motif to the top of the Matte White 4.25 x 6.25 inch invitation card. We added the bride and groom’s names in aqua using the Alyssa Afternoon font from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings. We added the rest of the invitation text in black using the Benjamin Caps font, also from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings. We used a double-stick tape gun to adhere the invitation to a 4.5 x 6.5 inch Matte Coral card, then to a 4.75 x 6.75 inch Matte Black card, and then mounted the set to the Metallic Aqua Pocket Folder. We added portions of the motif to the top of the Matte White 4.75 x 6.75 inch custom cut directions enclosure card and to the top of the Matte White 4-bar response card. We used Metallic Aqua envelopes for the invitation and response card and lined both envelopes in Matte Coral. We used the 4-up feature to print four seals on a Matte White 4 x 6 inch custom cut card. We added the invitation motif to the top of the seal and then added the bride and groom’s names. After printing, we used a rotary trimmer to cut the seals down to 2 x 3 inches. Next we used a double-stick tape gun to adhere the seal to a 2.25 x 3.25 inch custom cut Matte Coral card, then to a 2.5 x 3.5 inch custom cut Matte Black card, and then mounted the set onto the flap of the Pocket Folder. The completed invitation pulls together the colors of the painted desert in a fabulous package.

For sophisticated affair, try our Platinum design, featuring a Complete Pocket Invitation Set in the A8 Landscape (pointed flap) size. We added an elegant grey border to the Matte White invitation. We added a gold emblem as a floating image in the upper left corner of the invitation. Next we added the invitation text in grey using the Benjamin Caps font from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings. We aligned the text to the right and set the right margin to 1.25 inches to move the text away from the border. Next we used floating text boxes to add the bride and groom’s names in gold using the Alyssa font from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings. We aligned the names to the right as well and placed the text boxes so that the names extend beyond the right margin. We used a double-stick tape gun to adhere the invitation to the Metallic Slate backing card and then mounted the pair to the Metallic Saffron Pocket Folder. We added a single line to the top of the Matte White directions enclosure card and to the Matte White response card. We used the 4-up feature to print four seals on a Matte White 4 x 6 inch custom cut card. We used Metallic Slate envelopes for the invitation and response card. We added the invitation motif to the top of the seal and then added the bride and groom’s names. After printing, we used a rotary trimmer to cut the seals down to 2 x 3 inches. Next we used a double-stick tape gun to adhere the seal to a 2.25 x 3.25 inch custom cut Metallic Slate card, and then mounted the pair onto the flap of the Pocket Folder. You can easily change this design to suit your color scheme just by changing the color of the Pocket Folder.

For a modern wedding, try our PrintingPress Extreme 5.0 design. We began with Pocket Folders in the A7 Portrait (rounded point flap) size. We added a custom border to the invitation card with the border’s shape set to Line (Top). We filled the 2 inch border with a new copper lattice pattern and added a 4 point aqua inner pen to the border. We set the top margin to 2.25 inches so that the text would not overlap with the border. We added the invitation text in copper using the Benjamin Caps font from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings, and added the bride and groom’s names in aqua using the Noodles font from Fonts & Graphics 3. We used PrintingPress Extreme’s new Overprint feature to print a borderless design onto the 4.5 x 6.5 inch invitation card. To do this, we added a 0.25 inch overprint margin and printed the invitation onto Matte Ecru A7 cards. Then we used a rotary trimmer to cut the cards down to 4.5 x 6.5 inches. For more tips on using the Overprint feature, review the Extreme Tip from the December 2008 issue. Next we used a double-stick tape gun to adhere the invitation to a 4.75 x 6.75 inch custom cut Metallic Aqua backing card and then mounted the pair to the Metallic Vintage Pocket Folder. We added a single element of the copper lattice to the top of the Matte Ecru 4.75 x 6.75 inch directions enclosure card. We added a custom border to the Matte Ecru 4-bar response card to match the border on the invitation, but we set the response card’s border shape to Line (Left). Since the design on the response card bleeds to the edge of the card, we used our printer’s borderless printing feature. We used the label stationery type to print 20 2 x 2 inch seals on a single 8.5 x 11 inch sheet of Matte Ecru card stock. We added the same single element of the copper lattice from the directions card to the seal and put the bride and groom’s names and wedding date below the lattice. After we printed the sheet of seals, we used a rotary trimmer to cut the seals down to 2 x 2 inches and used a double-stick tape gun to adhere the seal to a 2.25 x 2.25 inch custom cut Metallic Aqua card, and then mounted the pair onto the flap of the Pocket Folder. We lined the Metallic Vintage envelopes in Metallic Aqua for a glamorous look.

Inviting designs
If you prefer a more simple invitation, or you don’t have the need for all the inserts, then our classic invitations are just right for you. We created these new designs using layered card stock for added color, but you can easily modify the designs to use a single layer for a more affordable and assembly-free invitation.

Our PrintingPress design features a green leafy branch atop a solid field of lighter green. We added the invitation text in grey using the Benjamin Caps font from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings and added the bride and groom’s names using the Alyssa font from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings. We added 6 point Before paragraph spacing to indent all of the invitation text to the right but left the names aligned to the left margin. We printed the invitation onto a White 4 x 7 inch custom cut card. Next we used a double-stick tape gun to adhere the invitation to a Slate A7 card. We added the same design to the White 4-bar vertical response card. We lined the Slate envelopes in Clover.

Our Platinum design adds a splash of color to a traditional design. We added a purple and gold circle frame to the top of an Ecru 4.5 x 6.5 inch custom cut card. We added the frame as a floating image and then used floating text boxes to add the bride and groom’s names inside the frame in purple using the Alyssa font from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings. We used another floating text box to add the invitation text in purple using the Benjamin Caps font from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings. We expanded the horizontal spacing by 2 points and the vertical spacing by 10 points for an airy look. We used a double-stick tape gun to adhere the invitation to a Metallic Vintage 4.75 x 6.75 inch custom cut card and then mounted the pair to a Violet A7 card. We used a 3.25 x 4.75 inch custom cut Ecru card for the response card and mounted it to a Metallic Vintage 4-bar card. We lined the Ecru envelopes in Metallic Vintage for a touch of elegance. For extra color, use Violet liners instead.

For an even bolder color palette, try our PrintingPress Extreme 5.0 design. We used the Overprint feature to create a borderless 6 x 6 inch design using a White 6.25 x 6.25 inch Square card. We started by adding a 0.125 inch overprint to the 6 x 6 inch invitation and then filled the custom background in aqua. Next we added a bold orange sea star to the top of the invitation. We added the invitation text in white using the Times New Roman font with the Text Case set to lowercase. We used large margins and then used the Point Justified horizontal text alignment to increase the size of the text on each line until it completely fills the line. We printed the invitation onto a White Square card and then used a rotary trimmer to cut it down to 6 x 6 inches. For more tips on using the Overprint feature, review the Extreme Tip from the December 2008 issue. Next we used a double-stick tape gun to adhere the invitation to a Mandarin Orange Square card. We added the same design to the White 4-bar response card and used our printer’s borderless printing feature to print the card. We lined the Mandarin Orange envelopes in Aqua to really make the colors pop.

Do me a favor
Personalization adds a special touch to every aspect of your wedding, and now you can create customized gift wrap for your wedding favors. We created personalized gift wrap designs to coordinate with the Extreme invitations. Both designs feature the couple’s names and wedding date. We designed the gift wrap to be printed onto 8.5 x 11 inch gift wrap paper, but you could easily modify the project to use larger gift wrap if you have a large format printer.

For the Extreme Pocket Invitation, we filled the custom background of the card with the copper lattice pattern. Then we added two floating text boxes with the bride and groom’s names and the wedding date. We added two text boxes to the 8.5 x 11 inch sheet so that you can wrap two favors with each sheet.  For each text box, we turned off the Make white transparent setting so that the background remains opaque. Next we added a custom border to the text box with a 3 point aqua outline.

For the Extreme Layered Invitation, we filled the custom background with a custom pattern featuring the sea star on a field of aqua. Next we used the Repeated Text feature to add the bride and groom’s names and the wedding date in a circle around each sea star. For tips on creating repeated text, see the Extreme Tip from the November 2008 issue.
