Mark your calendars
Sending Save the Date cards has become de rigueur in wedding planning. The cards can take many shapes, sizes and styles, but the most important job of the Save the Date card is to let your guests know the when and where. We’ve got some great ideas to get you started. For a simple and elegant announcement, we used the rich orange-red combination of Persimmon stationery. The name of the couple, written in the Noodles font from Fonts & Graphics 3, is centered in the card giving them the most attention. The details are written in Benjamin Caps from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings, and aligned to the top left and bottom right. We used a flat A2 card, however if you wanted to include more information, consider printing this design on the front of a folded card and adding the wedding details to the inside. Our Platinum design creates an elegant look using words “Save the date” in a large, Isabelle font from Fonts & Graphics 2. We used floating text boxes to overlap the words and tuck the word “the” inside the swirl of the “D” in “Date.” In order for the text to print to the edge of the 3.5 x 5 Blueberry Truffle card, we used our printer’s borderless printer function. Visit the November 2004 Tech Tip to find out how to use yours. The wedding details are written in Benjamin Caps from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings. Pair with a chocolate 4 bar envelope with a blue liner. The Extreme design uses Two Tone Front Scalloped A7 Café au Lait stationery. The save the date information is written in brown Benjamin Strong font from Fonts & Graphics 2. We filled the background of the larger card with the pattern tiny dots (green), with the margin set to zero. The pattern on the large card offsets the scalloped edge of the front card for a sweet, romantic look. Visit the November 2004 Tech Tip to see how you can print without a border. Print and assemble the cards with double stick tape, then pair with the Chocolate envelope with a tiny dots (green) liner to match the card.

Shower the bride with attention
Honor your bride-to-be with shower invitations as special as she. Let the style of the invitation indicate the type of function you plan the shower to be, whether it’s a formal tea or an informal afternoon with the girls. Three sweet hand-drawn flowers top our PrintingPress bridal shower invitation. Using the Sky Pie font and printed on a white scalloped card, this invitation is perfectly delicate and feminine. Pair with an A6 Blush envelope with a pink liner. Our Platinum bridal invitation covers the cuteness category by using a big claw foot tub and shower image. The text is written in pink to match the tub in the Meegles handwriting font from Fonts & Graphics 3. We used a floating text box to layer the RSVP information atop the bathtub. Pair with an A2 Blush envelope with a pink liner. The Extreme bridal shower invitation achieves a sophisticated yet whimsical look using the pattern-creator and customized border features to make a third of the card blue with white polka dots, divided from the rest of the card by a double brown line. The margins of the card are set so the white Noodles text from Fonts & Graphics 3 is centered over the solid blue half of the card. For the blue solid color and the polka dot pattern to print to the edge of the card, use your printer’s borderless function. Visit the November 2004 Tech Tip for more information on borderless printing. Pair with an A7 Chocolate envelope.

By invitation only
When creating your own wedding invitations, you have the chance to design an event that’s all your own from start to finish. Find your colors, your style and your fonts and coordinate each piece of wedding stationery for a seamless party unique to you and your fiancé. Our PrintingPress design shows a spectrum of colors by creating an invitation of layered cards of different sizes. We’ve made three versions for you: cool, warm and hot. The cool blue and green colors are perfect for a wedding by the sea. Choose the warm yellows and oranges for an afternoon event and the hot pinks and reds for a romantic or tropical wedding. We used Beckles Wide for all pieces and titled each sheet for easy reference. Use an elegant clip at the bottom to hold the cards together and expose each card’s title, and pair with an A7 envelope. The table numbers, menu and place cards all follow the same design. The different pieces of the Platinum wedding invitation – the invitation, response card, table number, menu and place card – are all designed with the same pink pussywillow motif on Ivory stationery, tying it all together. We used a folded card for the invitation with just the bride & groom’s names on the front with a pussywillow branch extending up the card and the event information on the inside with another branch extending across the fold of the card. In order to print the envelope with a continuous branch from the front to the back, we sized the envelope as if the flap were open and added the return address upside down. Be sure to print using Platinum’s one-pass feature. Both the outer envelope and the reply envelope are lined with pink liners. The Extreme wedding invitation is a striking design thanks to the rich brown and green colors. First, we created a solid brown background with a .75 inch margin. We then added text using the Benjamin Caps and Alyssa fonts from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings. We used Café au Lait stationery and lined the Chocolate envelopes with ivory liners. We mostly used white text to block out the brown background and leave the text the color of the ivory stationery. The table numbers, menu and place cards all use the same brown background with a generous margin for a consistent style.

Every detail of your wedding ceremony is significant. Treat your guests to a program so they can learn about every nuance or story behind all the decisions you and your fiancé made when choosing your wedding party, songs, readings and prayers. Known your Maid of Honor since first grade? Your best man built the chuppah? Share the background of your special relationships in your wedding program. The ceremony program is also a good place to use a motif or theme that you’ve introduced in your invitation. The PrintingPress program uses a tree with the names of the bride and groom in the Noodles font from Fonts & Graphics 3. The inside of the Ivory A2 folded card lists the wedding party and the sequence of events of the ceremony in Noodles and Benjamin Caps from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings. The Platinum ceremony program is designed to fit on an Ivory menu card for a simple, traditional look. It lists the program and the wedding party in Jackson Sans Wide, divided by the couple’s name flanked with green decorative details and joined by a green ampersand in the Alyssa font from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings. Consider placing a program on each guest's chair. If your ceremony is outdoors, use rocks or shells from a craft store to prevent them from blowing away. The Extreme ceremony program lines the left side of an Ivory 5x7 card with a bold pattern. This program uses borderless printing so the design goes to the edge of the card. For more information on borderless printing, see the November 2004 Tech Tip. The text is a mixture of Noodles from Fonts & Graphics 3 and Benjamin from Fonts & Graphics 2. Pile in a large basket and set by the entrance of your wedding, or ask a special friend or two to pass them out as your guests arrive.

The who, what, where & when
Your wedding day will be one of the most memorable in your life, but also the most hectic. Avoid any conflicts or confusion by creating a schedule and distributing copies to your close family and your wedding party. They’ll thank you for being so organized, and you’ll thank yourself for not having to answer “so when do I need to be ready for pictures?” a thousand times on your big day. Take one day at a time with our PrintingPress wedding weekend schedule. Print each day’s agenda on a separate card of a different color and print a cover with a personal note inside on folded Rock Candy stationery. This way you can give guests schedules for the days they’ll be in town without making different versions for any late arrivals or early departures. We used the Noodles font from Fonts & Graphics 3. Slip into the A2 Clover envelope and slip under your guests’ hotel room door. Our Platinum wedding weekend schedule is a straightforward list of events on an Ivory A7 scalloped card. We added a subtle blue polka dot border and used Benjamin Strong from Fonts & Graphics 2 in alternating blue and brown text. The flat card is perfect for propping on a pillow or inserting in a welcome basket. Save a copy for yourself to add to your scrapbook. Use Extreme to debut your new married monogram using two colors on the front of an Ivory A7 folded card. (See this month’s Extreme Tip for more details.) Inside, list all the times and places using Benjamin Caps from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings. Embellish the schedule by writing the names of the days with the fancy script font Alyssa, also from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings.

 With gratitude
The last detail of your wedding, but certainly not the least important, is how you’ll thank all your friends, family and vendors who made your day so special. Use this opportunity to continue your wedding theme, or focus on your new monogram. No matter the design, what’s important is the hand-written message inside. As you and your fiancé write your thank you notes, be sure to log it into the Mailing List so no one is overlooked! Our PrintingPress thank you note prints the couple’s name in Benjamin Shadow from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings on a folded scalloped Ivory card. A simple decorative flourish underlines the names. Pair with an A2 Dusty Blue envelope lined in Ivory. Use Platinum to create your married monogram in the Ryan font from Fonts & Graphics 3. We added a retro circle border with tiny dots and used A2 folded scalloped Rock Candy stationery lined with blue envelope liners. Using blue or black ink pens to write a personalized message is always appropriate, but consider a green ink pen or fine tipped marker for this fresh color scheme. The Extreme thank you note uses a modern background pattern of brown and blue circles with a simple brown border. A small text box centered on the front of the card has the couple's name written in Beckles Wide set to white over a blue background with a brown and white border. Print on a White folded card and pair with an A2 Chocolate envelope with a circles (blue & brown) envelope liner.
