· MOUNTAINCOW MONTHLY NEWSLETTER (JUNE 2005)
We’re
about to celebrate our country’s birthday, and any party that has
fireworks must have attention-getting invitations! And since it is summer,
take advantage of the free time and catch up with far away friends the
old-fashioned way, with a pen and paper. Summer is also an excellent time
to celebrate the friends you have nearby by inviting them over for refreshing
cocktails. Know a child with a summer birthday? Throw a blow-out pool
party with a banner that should make up for not having a room full of
classmates singing.

 Snap
Crackle and Pop!
What better excuse for a party than our nation's birthday?
Start your Independence Day celebration with some dynamite invitations.
Using the patriotic palate of red, white and blue, we added this new red
and white star image in the center of the invitation with Noodles, a new
font from the Fonts &
Graphics 3 collection. We paired the A6 white cards with Deep
Red envelopes, creating invitations that are as American as the apple
pie planned for the post-barbecue dessert. Break tradition
with our Platinum design, which uses muted blue and green fireworks to
set the mood for a mellow gathering. Skipping the red and blue doesn't
mean you can't show your spirit by simply serving hot dogs and ice cream
– nothing is more American than that! We used white A6 cards and
Dusty Blue envelopes.

Write on!
Whether you’re
writing to a camper, reaching out to an old friend or sending a thank
you note, PrintingPress Platinum allows you to make stylish and fun stationery
so easily, you can base it on your mood or the season. Your choices are
unlimited so think about your personal style and the function of your
note. To help you get started, we chose a summery image and added a personal
flair. Scan the Fonts
& Graphics 3
for summer graphics like bikinis, sunglasses and hats. Since everyone’s
got a different preference, we made both flat and folded cards. For the
flat card, we added a band of pink and green beach chairs at the bottom
of an A6 white card. We personalized it by adding the name centered at
the top in Noodles, a new font included in the same collection. Paired
with a Blush envelope,
it’s sure to get noticed in the mailbox. For those
who prefer a folded card, we used an A2 note card and personalized a green
beach tote with a monogram. All you need to do is customize the monogram
with your own initials. Tucked into its coordinating Clover
envelope, it’s so cute, you’ll want to carry the tote bag
with you the next time you hit the beach!

 Summer
Sipping
We
love throwing a party for no reason at all. (It’s low humidity!
C’mon over for drinks!) So we created these simple yet stylish invitations
for a casual summer cocktail party. Using the refreshingly colorful cocktail
images from Fonts
& Graphics 3,
we also made a drink menu to help guests learn their liquids. Our PrintingPress
project is filled with a variety of tropical drinks, giving the party
a Hawaiian luau feel. Greet guests with leis and Polynesian music, plenty
of pineapple and a matching cocktail menu and you won’t have to
roast a pig to get your theme across. The invitation and menu both use
the new Meegles handwriting font from Fonts
& Graphics 3.
The invitation is sent in a Violet
envelope. Also using
the Meegles font and cocktail images from Fonts
& Graphics 3,
the Platinum project uses one cocktail as a background image for the invitation.
We used brightly colored text and nestled it around the glass for a fun
look. The invitation is printed on a white A6 card and paired with a Clover
envelope.

Make
a splash
Kids
with summer birthdays often feel gypped out of having the attention
of an entire school on their special day. Often their best friends are
away or even he or she is far from home. The solution? Throw a pool
party and invite all the summer friends to celebrate. Don’t have
a pool? The little ones won’t mind splashing in a kiddie pool!
PrintingPress
users can print this fun new image of a pool toy on the invitation and
the goody bag tag. This will inspire hot tots to gear up in their bathing
suits for a day of fun. The invitations are printed on white A6 cards
with Purple
envelopes. To make the birthday boy or girl really ok with missing a
school year birthday, create a banner using 5x7 white cards. Use a hole
punch to punch out the ribbon hole guides, add brass fasteners to attach
each letter. Then tie a string ribbon at each end and hang it up!
Platinum
users can make more of an impact by using a splash as the background
image for the invitation. Using the new Brina font from the Fonts
& Graphics 3
collection, this invitation is all about fun, children and making a
splash. We used white A6 cards and Dusty
Blue envelopes. The same splash is used as a background on the goody
bag tags with white Brina writing over the top. We’ve got a great
banner for this project, too. Each card has the splash background with
one letter to spell out Happy Birthday.

My
favorite font
You’ve
probably come to love some fonts more than others, and you may find
yourself using the same font in many of your projects. Wouldn’t
it be easier if each time you created a new piece of stationery, it
automatically used your favorite font? PrintingPress says yes.
PrintingPress
allows you to specify a default font that is used each time you create
a new piece of stationery. Just choose Set Default Font in the Stationery
menu and specify the font, style, size and color and click the OK button.
The next time you create a piece of stationery, the font will be set
exactly to your specifications.
