Valentines (PrintingPress)

Our PrintingPress design couldn’t bee any sweeter. A Valentine bumble bee hovers at the top of a White 3 x 4.5 inch custom cut card. We added the greeting in red beneath the bee using the Girls are Weird font from the Easy Invitations Bonus Content CD. We used a double-stick tape gun to adhere the Valentine to a Deep Red 4-bar Scalloped card. Pair with Deep Red envelopes lined in Blush and add valentine bee (red & pink) Personalized StationeryStamps in the Small size.

For a less cutesy Valentine, check out our PrintingPress Platinum design. A blue heart with butterfly silhouette cut outs sits in the top left corner of a White 4-bar card. We used the Courier New font in grey to add the Valentine wishes along the right side of the card. Paired with Pink Lemonade envelopes lined in Pewter, it’s bound to make your Valentine’s heart flutter. If you’re mailing your Valentine, add butterfly heart (blue) Personalized StationeryStamps in the Small size.

Valentines (Platinum)
Valentines (Extreme)

Our PrintingPress Extreme 5.0 design looks good enough to eat! A trio of polka dotted cupcakes sits at the top of a White 4-bar card. We added a custom border with the Line Type set to Bumps and used the Sample Color tool to match the brown used in the cupcakes. For tips on using the Sample Color tool, review the Extreme Tip from the February 2006 issue. We added the Valentine wishes in the same brown using the Isabelle font from Fonts & Graphics 2. We added a 0.25 point brown outline to the text and then skewed it to make it more upright. For tips on skewing text, see this month’s Extreme Tip. We added a polka dotted heart above the signature for a little extra love. Pair with Chocolate envelopes lined in Blush, and add your favorite polka dot cupcake Personalized StationeryStamps.

Wedding Bells
It’s no secret that we love weddings, so we’re starting the New Year with fabulous new wedding invitation designs! We used Mountaincow’s Pocket Folders for all of our designs to help keep all of the pieces organized. For an extra touch of elegance, we created coordinating Custom Image StationeryStamps for each invitation.

Our PrintingPress design, featuring a Complete Pocket Invitation Set in the A8 Portrait (no flap) size, will work for a casual or elegant affair. We started by adding an orange

silhouette of a sago palm to the top of the Ecru invitation card. Next we added the invitation text in avocado using the Arial font in all lowercase letters. We added the bride and groom’s names in orange and set the text style to bold. We used a double-stick tape gun to mount the invitation onto the Mandarin Orange backing card and then adhered the pair to the Avocado Pocket Folder. The palm sits in the upper right corner of the Ecru directions insert card and at the top of the Ecru response card. The response card is paired with a Mandarin Orange envelope for a splash of color in the pocket. We added seals to the outside of the Pocket Folder by using the 4-up feature to print four 3.5 x 2.5 inch seals on a single Ecru A7 card. We used a rotary trimmer to separate the seals and then used a double-stick tape gun to stick the seal onto Mandarin Orange 3.75 x 2.75 inch custom cut cards. Then we taped the seals to the outside of the Pocket Folder. We lined the Avocado invitation envelopes in Mandarin Orange for another burst of color. We added the palm to the Custom Image StationeryStamps as well.

For an elegant affair, try our PrintingPress Platinum design featuring a Complete Pocket Invitation Set in the A7 Landscape (rounded point flap) size. We used floating text boxes to add the bride and groom’s names in blue using the Benjamin Shadow font from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings. We placed the text boxes in the upper right corner of the Ecru invitation card, and joined the names by adding an image of an ecru ampersand floating behind the main text area of the card. We set the top margin to 2.875 inches to place the

invitation text at the bottom of the card. We added the invitation text in brown using the Isabelle font from Fonts & Graphics 2, and repeated the date numerically in blue using the Benjamin Shadow font. We used a double-stick tape gun to adhere the invitation to the Powder Blue backing card and then mounted the set onto the Ecru Pocket Folder. We used the same fonts and colors for the Ecru directions insert card and the Ecru response set. We added the motif with the bride and groom’s names to the return address on the invitation envelope and to the address on the response envelope. We created seals with the same motif by using the 4-up feature to print four 3 x 2 inch seals on a single Ecru 4 x 6 inch custom cut card. We separated the seals using a rotary trimmer and then used a double-stick tape gun to stick the seal onto Powder Blue 3.25 x 2.25 inch custom cut cards and then adhered the seals to the outside of the Pocket Folder. We lined the Ecru invitation envelopes in Powder Blue and repeated the motif on the Custom Image StationeryStamps.

Our PrintingPress Extreme 5.0 design features a fresh color palette perfect for wedding by the sea. We started by filling the background of a White A7 card in aqua. Next we added a white sea star as a floating image and placed it in the upper right corner of the card. We added the invitation text in white using the Arial font with the Text Case set to Small Caps. We increased the character and line spacing for an airy look and set the Vertical Alignment to Align Text Bottom. Since the aqua background runs to the edge of the card, we used our

printer’s borderless printing feature. Next, we used a double-stick tape gun to mount the invitation directly onto a White A8 Landscape (pointed flap) Pocket Folder. We added an aqua version of the sea star to the White A7 directions insert card and to the White 4-bar response card. We also added the aqua sea star on the back flap of both the White A8 invitation envelope and the White 4-bar response envelope. Both envelopes are lined in Aqua. We used the Label stationery type to print eight 3.5 x 2.5 inch seals onto a White full sheet of 8.5 x 11 inch card stock. We used a rotary trimmer to separate the seals and then adhered the seals to the flap of the Pocket Folder. We created coordinating Custom Image StationeryStamps to repeat the sea star design on the front of the envelope.

Extreme Tip

A new SLANT on things
PrintingPress Extreme 5.0’s text Skew tool lets you expand your font library without adding a single font to your system. By adjusting the slant of the letters, you can completely change the look of the font. Just select the text that you want to change and then click in the Skew field in the Character palette. Use your mouse wheel to increase or decrease the Skew to achieve the desired look.

Character Palette

Increasing the Skew will slant the text to the left. Decreasing the Skew will slant the text to the right. In this month’s Extreme Valentine, we increased the Skew on the Isabelle font from Fonts & Graphics 2 to make it more upright.
