 Be all heart
Valentine’s Day falls on a Tuesday this year so spread the mid-week love by having a dinner party. Whether you’re in the mood for a romantic couples-only setting with candles and Sinatra or a hoppin’ singles night, we’ve got the invitation for you. PrintingPress users can double the fun by using Mountaincow’s new A7 two-tone cards and envelopes in White and Deep Red. We added the party details under a red and pink heart in Noodles from Fonts & Graphics 3 onto the white 4-bar card and adhered it to the red A7 card. Then slide into a Deep Red A7 envelope with heart liners. We created coordinating menus and place cards using the same font and colors. Our Platinum design makes sure everyone has love on their mind using a border of pink and red hearts on an A6 Rose invitation. We used the same border on the Rose menus and even the place cards, surrounding your sweetheart’s name with hearts and love. Tie in the colors of the invitation with tiny dots (pink & red) envelope liners. Our Extreme design uses bold red & pink stripes to get your guests’ attention. We used borderless printing to bleed to the edge of the invitation, printed on a white 5 x 7 card stock. We added the party info in white using Benjamin Caps from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings. We used large margins to make the stripes really pop. After printing your addresses on Deep Red A7 envelopes, line them with circles (pink & red) liners. We combined the menu and place card by printing the guest’s name on the outside of a 4-bar folded note and printing the menu on the inside of the card. For more about borderless printing, please review the Tech Tip from the November 2004 issue of the Mountaincow Monthly.

 Love token
Need a quick Valentine’s gift? Consider making initial note cards that are perfect whether they’re for your sweetie, a coworker, or your mom. Using a folded white card, we added an initial in the Ryan font at a whopping 280 points. Using PrintingPress Extreme’s pattern-filled text, we filled the letter with the polka dots (pink & red) pattern in the Traditional folder and used the Sample color feature to match the outline color to the red polka dots. For more information on sampling colors, see this month’s Extreme Tip. Add matching polka dot (pink & red) liners after you’ve printed the return address on Deep Red A2 envelopes.

 Be mine
Whether you’re printing five Valentines or 55, the ones you make yourself are the most special. Use the inner envelope option to just print the names of your recipients so you can easily pass the valentines out in school or tuck one into a lunchbox. We think petite packs a punch, so we chose 4-bar envelopes for all of our Valentines. PrintingPress users can print a sweet message S.W.A.K. on a flat ivory card to create the perfect little love note. We used Alyssa Afternoon from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings to add a personal message. After printing the recipient’s name on the Deep Red 4-bar envelope, add an ivory liner. The Platinum project has a playful feel with a polka dot border around the Valentine message with a heart placed to act as an apostrophe. We used Beckles Wide on a 4-bar folded card to leave you room to scribe a personal message inside. Once you’ve addressed the Deep Red 4-bar envelope, add tiny dots (pink & red) liners. Surround your Valentine’s heart using PrintingPress Extreme curved text. We shaped “be mine” in the Ryan font in a circle to surround a red outline heart from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings. We used ivory 4-bar folded cards, leaving room for a handwritten note inside. Add ivory liners to Deep Red 4-bar envelopes after printing.

Hey baby!
A new baby deserves an announcement as cute and original as he or she is. Welcome your new little one to the world with one of our newest birth announcements that incorporate sweet images and colorful patterns in pastel hues. PrintingPress users can announce the treasure the stork brought on flat A2 Cotton Candy stationery. We used the Charlotte font from Fonts & Graphics 3 to list all the baby’s details under the green stork. After the Meadow A2 envelopes are addressed, add argyle (pink & green) liners. Platinum users can be completely coordinated with a new tiny dots border on a flat A2 Café au Lait stationery tucked into an envelope lined with a tiny dots (green & brown) liner. We added the baby’s stats in Beckles wide in brown to coordinate with the envelope. C is for cutie pie. Extreme users can add patterns to letters and custom borders to cards. We added a 2 point rectangle border to a flat white A2 card then filled a large letter “c” in the Ryan font with a the circles & squares (blue & green) pattern in the Mod Squad folder and outlined the letter with the dark blue from the pattern. For more info on matching colors, see this month’s Extreme Tip. Print the Dusty Blue A2 envelopes and add matching mod squad (blue & green) liners.

A perfect match
To match the text of your card to a decorative border or the outline of a custom border to an image in the center of your invitation, PrintingPress Extreme’s Sample color feature makes it easy as pie. PrintingPress Extreme gives you a powerful color menu to allow you to completely customize the color of your text, backgrounds and borders. The drop down color menu from the Fill Color, Outline Color or Background Color buttons in the Text toolbar offers 17 pre-defined colors that were designed to print well using inkjet printers. The menu also keeps track of the colors you used most recently and of the RGB value of custom colors. At the bottom of the menu, you will see the Sample color option.

To sample a color from anywhere on your stationery, select Sample color... and your cursor will change to the color dropper and the Sample Color window will appear at the upper left of the Stationery area. As you move the color dropper cursor over images and text, the color below the dropper will be previewed in the Sample Color window. In the example below, we selected all the text of the invitation to match the exact blue in the cocktail. You can use the Sample Color tool to match colors in images, photographs, backgrounds and borders.
