--------------------  3…2…1…Happy New Year!  --------------------

Don’t have plans for New Year’s yet? Why not throw a party? We have gorgeous new invitation designs to help you throw together a fabulous last-minute party in snap.

New Year´s Party (PrintingPress)

Our PrintingPress 6.0 design is fun and festive, featuring a collection of colorful champagne glasses with “2013” silhouetted on the glasses. We added the champagne glasses to a sale-price Metallic Frost A7 card for a little bit of festive sparkle. We added the invitation text in the same colors as the glasses using the Trebuchet font that is included with Windows. Since we used metallic stock, we used our laser printer to print the cards. Then we used a corner punch to round the corners of the card. We added a trio of champagne glasses on the back of the envelopes alongside the return address and lined the Midnight envelopes in Metallic Frost. Have PrintingPress Extreme 6.0 and want to change the color scheme? See this month’s Extreme Tip.

New Year´s Party (Platinum)

Want something with attitude? Check out our PrintingPress Platinum 6.0 design. We started by adding a new typography circles border image to a Natural Cotton 6.75 x 6.75 inch custom cut card. The border is made up of circles of exclamation points and colons that get lighter in color as they move outward in the circle. We added the invitation text in grey and magenta using the Georgia font. We used a floating text box to tuck the “NEW” into the word “YEAR” for a bold look. We printed the card and then trimmed it down to 6.25 x 6.25 inches using a rotary trimmer and then used a corner punch to round the corners of the card. We lined the Magenta envelopes in Metallic Frost for a sparkly touch.

New Year´s Party (Extreme)

Our PrintingPress Extreme 6.0 design is sophisticated and modern. We started by filling the background of a White Square card in a new wood grain (black & white) pattern. We colorized the pattern to grey and added a 0.25 inch overprint margin. Next, we added the invitation text using the Georgia font in grey and red. We printed the invitation onto a White 6.75 x 6.75 inch custom cut card, used a rotary trimmer to cut it down to 6.25 x 6.25 inches and used a corner punch to round the corners of the card. Paired with our sale-price Deep Red Square envelopes lined in Metallic Frost, this invitation is sure to get noticed.

Realized that you forgot someone on your holiday list? Make a fabulous gift in a flash using our new personalized stationery designs. Each of our designs offers both flat and folded versions to give you options.

Gift Stationery (PrintingPress)

Have a princess on your list? Our PrintingPress 6.0 design is just right for you. We started by adding the royal one’s initial in magenta at the top of a White A7 card using the Palatino Linotype font that is included with Windows. Then we added a magenta crown image resting atop the initial. We added the full name in dark grey at the bottom of the card in all uppercase letters. We added the same design elements to the center of the front of a White A2 folded note card. We added a black version of the crown above the royal return address and lined the Magenta envelopes in Pewter. Have PrintingPress Extreme 6.0 and want to change the color scheme? See this month’s Extreme Tip.

Gift Stationery (Platinum)

Our PrintingPress Platinum 6.0 design is perfect for anyone in love with the retro trends from the eighties. We started by adding a cheerful new rainbow stripe border image to a White A7 card. Next we added an opaque white parallelogram as a floating image in the bottom right corner of the card to block out part of the border and make room for the name. We used a parallelogram so that its slanted edges would line up well with the slanted rainbow stripes in the border. We used a floating text box to add the first name in magenta using the Georgia font with the Italic style. If you need to resize the parallelogram in order to fit a larger or smaller name, make sure to resize it proportionally to keep the slanted edges at the same angle as the rainbow stripes. We added a similar rainbow stripe border to the front of the White 4-Bar folded note card and used our printer’s borderless printing feature to print the card. We lined the sale-price Blush envelopes in Purple for a fun splash of color.

Gift Stationery (Extreme)

Looking for something kitschy? Check out our PrintingPress Extreme 6.0 design. We started by adding a custom border to a White A7 card. We set the Border Shape to Line (Top), set the border’s Width to 1.5 inches and filled the border with a new composition notebook pattern. We used a floating text box to create a “label” with the words “IMPORTANT NOTES FROM” in the Palatino Linotype font using all capital letters. We disabled the text box’s Make White Background Transparent setting so that the text box will remain opaque and block out the pattern. We floated the text box behind the main text area of the card and then typed the name into the main text area of the card in magenta using the Charlotte font from Fonts & Graphics 3. We repeated the design elements on the front of a White 4-Bar folded note card and used our printer’s borderless printing feature to print both cards. We paired the sale-price Blush envelopes with Magenta liners for a punch of color.

Extreme Tip

--------------------  Going back in time  --------------------

As you already know, you can use the Selective Color feature in PrintingPress Extreme 6.0 to recolor just part of an image with the paint bucket cursor. But did you know that you can modify those changes after clicking with the paint bucket? We’re going to tell you how. First, we start with the unmodified champagne glasses image.

Original Champagne Image

As you learned in our Extreme Tip on the Selective Color feature, click on an image to select it and then click on the Selective Color button to begin to adjust the color for the image. Click on the Choose Selective Color button to choose the color that you would like to use and then click on the Apply Selective Color button to get the paint bucket cursor and click on your image to apply the color to your image.

Design Palette

Below you can see that we have modified the champagne glass with the “3” and changed it to brown.

Selective Color

But what if you don’t like the color now that it’s been applied to the image once you see it next to the other colors? Click on the Modify Previous Fill button and then click on the Choose Selective Color button to apply a new color to the same part of the image that you just changed. This saves you the time of repeatedly choosing Undo and then applying a new color to the image. You can continue to change the color (or other selective recolor settings) and as long as the Modify Previous Fill button is still selected it will continue to modify the previous fill. Click the Modify Previous Fill button again  to stop modifying the previous fill.

Selective Color: Modify Previous Fill

Below you can see the resulting image where we adjusted the brown to a more neutral color.
