Holiday goodies
Holiday shopping can be overwhelming even with the convenience of shopping online. We love to give personalized stationery since it’s a gift everyone can use, it’s such fun and it’s so affordable.
Our PrintingPress design is a classic. We’ve written the first name in chocolate brown using the Times New Roman font in all caps. We added the bullet character a few points larger than the text and in bold between each letter and added an extra bullet before and after the name. We used a variety of pastel colors for the bullets and you can customize them to any color scheme that you like. We printed the design onto an Ecru A7 flat card and an A2 folded note card. We used the Reply Envelope type to print just the return address on the back of the envelopes. We lined the Ecru envelopes in Lavender and added Custom Image StationeryStamps using Ivory sheets.
For the fashionista on your list, try our PrintingPress Platinum design featuring our Café Latte stationery. We added the silhouette of a stylish woman with fabulous accessories to the left side of the A7 flat card, and added the name on the bottom right corner of the card in red using the Girls are Weird font from the Easy Invitations Bonus Content CD. We added the silhouette on the right and the name on the left of the A2 folded note card. We lined the envelopes with Aqua liners and added fashionista silhouette Personalized StationeryStamps.
Our PrintingPress Extreme 5.0 project is perfect for the equestrian in your life. We created a floating text box and added the last name initial using the Times New Roman font in green. We added an oval custom background to the text box and filled it in a lighter green. Next we added a custom border with a dotted brown line. We used another floating text box with the Shape set to Double Bend to add the first and last name in brown using the Times New Roman font with the Small Caps style. Finally we added the silhouette of a horse in the center of the design. We printed the design at the top of a White A7 flat card, and then printed a larger version on the front of a White A2 folded note card. We lined the Avocado envelopes in Chocolate and added equestrian (willow) StationeryStamps.

Wrapped with love
When you’re wrapping a present to go under someone else’s Christmas tree, you want to make sure that they know the gift is from you. A gift tag is a great way to go, but we’ve used PrintingPress Extreme 5.0 to create an even better option this year: personalized holiday message gift wrap! We created a pattern of festive Christmas messages in red and green, making sure to leave space within the pattern for your personalized message. We added the message “From the Edwards family” in the Isabelle font from Fonts & Graphics 2 using PrintingPress Extreme 5.0’s repeated text feature. For tips on using the feature, check out the Extreme Tip from the November 2008 issue. You can use any font that you like, and personalize the message to suit your style. You can even print a different sheet for each recipient and add their name to the message.

Baby steps
Getting ready for a new baby involves so many details, even if it’s your third. And no matter how much you plan ahead, you just can’t take care of the birth announcements before the baby arrives. Our adorable birth announcement designs will make it easy for you to send out the announcements when you bring your baby home from the hospital. We created matching folded note card designs so you can send out thank you notes when you receive baby gifts. You can even order the stationery ahead of time so that you’re ready to go.
Our PrintingPress design features a quartet of baby animals in pastel bubbles at the top of a White 4 x 5.25 inch custom cut card. We added the text in green using the Brina font from Fonts & Graphics 3. We used a double-stick tape gun to mount the card to a Dusty Blue A2 flat card. We created a coordinating thank you note with the baby’s name above the baby animals on a White A2 folded note card, and lined both Dusty Blue envelopes in Yellow. Choose from any of the new baby animal Personalized StationeryStamps; baby animal (whale) is shown.
Our PrintingPress Platinum design uses three layers of card stock for an elegant look. We added a brown snowflake to the top of a 2.75 x 2.125 Ecru card, which we printed 4-up onto an A2 flat card and then trimmed with a rotary trimmer. We used a floating text box to add the baby’s name in brown using the Benjamin Caps font from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings. We set the text box's Condense / expand horizontally setting to Expand 8 for an airy look. We added the baby’s info using the Isabelle font from Fonts & Graphics 2. We used another floating text box to add the parents’ names using the Benjamin Caps font, also with expanded character spacing. We used a double-stick tape gun to mount the Ecru card to an Aqua 3 x 2.375 inch custom cut card, and then mounted the pair to a Chocolate A2 flat card. We repeated the snowflake design along with the baby’s name on the front of an Ecru A2 folded note card. We lined the Chocolate envelopes in Ecru; for a bolder alternative, line them in Aqua. We used the snowflake design to create Custom Image StationeryStamps using the Small size with Ecru sheets.
A choo choo train filled with baby animals is chugging across the bottom of our PrintingPress Extreme 5.0 design. We added the train to the bottom left corner of a White 4.75 x 3.25 inch custom cut card. We used PrintingPress Extreme 5.0’s custom border feature to add the train tracks to the bottom of the card. We set the border’s shape to Line (Bottom) and added a dotted inner pen to simulate the railroad ties. We added the baby’s name to the top of the card in blue using the Ryan font. We added the rest of the text in grey and aligned the parents’ names to the right side of the card just above the tracks. We used a double-stick tape gun to adhere the announcement to a Clover 4-bar card. We added the baby’s name and the animal train to the front of the White 4-bar folded note card. We lined the Dusty Blue envelopes in Clover and added choo choo train Personalized StationeryStamps.

Deck the wedding halls
If you find an engagement ring dangling beneath the mistletoe and you’re ready to start planning your wedding in the New Year, we have fabulous new wedding invitation designs to get you started. For a special touch, add StationeryStamps to put the wedding date outside the envelope as well.
Our PrintingPress design features our Mountaincow Complete Pocket Invitation Set in the A7 Landscape (rounded point flap) size. We added blue and brown daisies to the upper left corner of the White invitation card. Next we added the bride and groom’s names in blue using the Noodles font from Fonts & Graphics 3. We added the rest of the invitation text in brown using the Benjamin Caps font from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings. We used a double-stick tape gun to adhere the invitation to the Dusty Blue backing card and then mounted the set onto the Dark Chocolate Pocket Folder. We added another daisy to the upper right corner of the White enclosure directions card, and to the upper left corner of the White response card. We created 3.5 x 2.5 seals, which we printed 4-up onto White A7 flat cards and then trimmed with a rotary trimmer. We used a double-stick tape gun to adhere the seals to Dusty Blue 3.75 x 2.75 inch custom cut cards and then mounted the set onto the flap of the Pocket Folder. We used Dusty Blue envelopes and added Custom Image StationeryStamps.
Our PrintingPress Platinum design features a cool color palette of blue, grey and white. We added a blue and grey border image featuring a decorative vase of flowers at the bottom of the border to a White A7 flat card. We added the invitation text in grey using the Benjamin Caps font and added the bride and groom’s names using the Alyssa font, both fonts from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings. We added a similar border to the White 4-bar response card and added the text in grey as well. Since the borders bleed to the edge of the card, we used our printer’s borderless printing feature to print both cards. We lined the White envelopes in Pewter and added Custom Image StationeryStamps featuring the same border.
Our PrintingPress Extreme 5.0 design uses the new Overprint feature to allow borderless designs on metallic stationery using a laser printer. We added a 0.125 inch overprint to the invitation and response card to allow the design to run off the edge of the card, then trimmed the cards to size using a rotary trimmer. Both cards feature an elegant lace design, which was created in off-white so it can be recolored to suit any color scheme. For tips on recoloring images, review the Extreme Tip from the September 2008 issue. We added the invitation text using the Benjamin Caps font from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings and the Isabelle font from Fonts & Graphics 2. We used the Sample Color tool to match the text color to the color of the lace which runs along the bottom of the invitation. We printed the invitation onto Metallic Vanilla A7 cards and then trimmed it down to 4.75 x 6.75 inches. Next we used a double-stick tape gun to adhere the invitation to a Metallic Chocolate A7 flat card. We printed the response cards onto Metallic Vanilla 4-bar cards and then trimmed them down to 3.25 x 4.75 inches and mounted them onto Metallic Chocolate 4-bar cards. We lined the Metallic Vanilla envelopes using Metallic Chocolate and added Custom Image StationeryStamps. For tips on using the Overprint feature in your own projects, review this month’s Extreme Tip.

Printing outside the box
Borderless printing is a piece of cake using ink jet printers, but most metallic stationery isn’t compatible with ink jet printers, and laser printers do not support borderless printing. In addition, many ink jet printers only support borderless printing for standard photo sizes (3.5x5, 4x6, 5x7, 8x10 and 8.5x11 inches) Whether you’re trying to print a borderless design onto metallic stationery or a non-photo size, PrintingPress Extreme 5.0’s Overprint feature lets you print borderless designs onto larger stationery without having to do any math. Just choose Change Stationery, Change Margins and Overprint in the Stationery menu and add any size overprint that you like. We recommend that you use at least 0.125 inches so that you have enough room to allow the design to bleed off the edge of the card. Setting the overprint margin to increments of 1/8” will make it easier to use the ruler guide on your rotary trimmer for accurate cutting.

Once you have added overprint to your stationery, click on the OK button and you will see the overprint area marked by the grey and white trim zone pattern. This area is shown so that you can include the design elements to allow for bleed, but you will know that the area will not be part of the stationery once it has been trimmed. When you print, you can choose to add crop marks to the top card only (if using a ream cutter) or to all cards. However, since the crop marks will get removed as you trim your cards, we still recommend that you use the ruler guide on your trimmer.

The Overprint feature also allows you to print “borderless” designs onto labels and address labels. Add your design elements with the overprint and PrintingPress Extreme 5.0 will automatically adjust the overprint for labels that are adjacent. In our example below, we created 1 2/3 inch circle stickers with 0.125 inch overprint.

The labels are adjacent vertically on the sheet, and the green background is printed evenly to create a solid background and avoid any unprinted white edges on the sides of the labels.
