 Happy
Ho-Ho-Holidays!
Whether
you have a party in the works, or you’re just thinking of gathering
your friends around the ol’ tree, we have some great projects for
you.
Both of our designs take advantage of the bright, shiny ornament images
from Fonts and Graphics
2. Platinum
users can make the red ornament a background image on a 4.25 x 5.5 card,
and select Background Image, Set Transparency in the
Design menu and set the opacity to 100 percent. The text is written
in the Beckles Wide font in a text box and the color is set to off white.
For more information on white text, see the April
2004 newsletter. A selection of the colorful ornaments brighten up
the back of a white A2 envelope above the return address, also in Beckles
Wide. To carry
out the theme at the party, your guests can keep their drinks straight
with a wine glass tag. Using the place card feature, we’ve created
a template for you to cut out on the dotted lines. The tag will slide
right on the base of a wine glass, and with everyone’s name on the
tags, there will be no lost drinks and extra glasses to wash! The PrintingPress
design uses the ornaments and the Benjamin family of fonts available on
Fonts and Graphics 2.
Using a white folded 8.5 x 5.5 card, we wrote in Benjamin, “Ho,
Ho, Ho” and substituted the last “o” with a red ornament.
Inside, we used Benjamin Drop Cap and placed ornaments in assorted colors
for all the “o”s. We used Benjamin Drop Cap for the address
on the red A2 envelope. |

To continue the festive theme at the party, we created a tented menu card
with a list of all the holiday cocktails being served. If you are serving
food or providing a program of entertainment, add all the details to your
menu. You can also add the date of the party and print an extra one for
your scrapbook. We printed the menu 2-up on a full 8.5 x 11 sheet and
then cut it in two to create two vertical folded 4.25 x 11 menus. We repeated
the invitation design using Benjamin Drop Cap and assorted ornaments.
We selected everything and copied and pasted it to the other side of the
menu card. When it prints, the outside back will print upside down so
it’s readable when folded.

Tag,
you're it!
Wrap
your presents with an original touch by making your own gift tags. Using
the place card feature, you can create a tag with a personal message and
your name. Create a mailing list of all the gift recipients on your list
and their name will print directly on the tag. If you're giving gifts
to more than one person in a family, just add additional place cards for
each family member in the Status window. You can change the color
of the tag to match your wrapping paper by choosing Background Image,
Recolor Background Image in the Design menu. Print on a
3.5 x 5 card and cut out the notches on either side using a utility knife
or sharp scissors for the tag to hook onto a one inch ribbon. Your card
won’t be missed and you’ll never have to deal with hand writing
names or taping on gift tags again!

 A
coupon to clip
Didn’t
find that perfect gift for your Aunt Mary in time to put it under the
tree? Have a gift that is impossible to wrap? Create an IOU or a gift
coupon, or even a booklet of them, with PrintingPress.
It’s the perfect solution for gifts that didn’t ship in time
and for gifts of love such as babysitting or a trip to the movies. Our first
version uses a combination of Jackson Wide and Isabelle fonts and the
menorah and dreidel from the Fonts
and Graphics 2 collection. We set the left margin on a white 5 x 3.5
card to 1 inch and the rest to .5 inch. Set the ribbon hole markers to
vertical, .5 inch from the edge and 1 inch from one another. To create
additional coupons, select Duplicate Stationery in the Stationery
menu. Fill out your gift coupons, print, punch the holes and tie
with a coordinating ribbon, depending on your design. For variety, use
a different image on each page. Slip it into a matching 4-bar envelope
you’ve addressed with the recipient’s name using the inner
envelope style. Platinum
users can add a festive holiday border to frame their gift. The project
is set up similarly, but with the left margin of the card set to 1.25
inches and the other margins set to .75 inch. Because we used a floating
image for the border rather
than adding it as a card border, you’ll
need to hide floating images in

order to customize the gift text. Just click on the card and select Image
, Hide Foreground Images in the Design menu. We used
the whimsical Jessie font, available from Fonts
and Graphics 2 on the cover and the coupons. Again, create an inner
envelope to save time wrapping this gift.

A
very now vow
Looking
for something outside the traditional wedding invitation with white
paper and black writing? Modernize your wedding by introducing strong,
bold colors with the invitation. Start small by using colored text like
gray, brown or dark red, or go all out and choose lavender, teal or
pink paper for your invitation. Even the traditional ivory card takes
a modern twist when paired with a deep chocolate envelope.
Mountaincow
now offers our Modern Stationery Line's striking colors in a variety
of sizes available in bulk
quantities.
In addition
to color, there are a variety of ways to update your invitation’s
style. Since feminine script is traditionally used for weddings, choose
a clean simple sans serif font. Play with the alignment and margins
of your text for an unexpected, modern design. To keep your style consistent
with the tone of the invitation, choose less formal wording by leaving
out titles and making every word lower-case.
For a rich
combination of deep teal and brown, print your invitation on a piece
of 5x7 Lagoon
paper and pair with a brown A7 envelope. For the 2.0 project, set the
margins on the invitation to 1 inch on the top, .75 inch on the bottom,
and .5 inch on the left and right. Add your text using all lower-case
Jackson Junior Sans Wide in brown text and align it to the right.
Create
a 3.5 x 5 response card with a .5 inch margin on all sides. Match the
font, color and right text alignment to the invitation. Use a brown
4 Bar envelope to create the reply envelope and pre-print your address
on the front.
|
| |
Use the
same font in black text on the outside and reply envelopes so it shows
clearly on the brown envelope.
Platinum
users can achieve a sophisticated look by using fully justified text
– this means the text lines up evenly on the right and left sides.
On the 5x7 ivory card, create a text box and type using Jackson Sans
Wide in brown text. In the text box, justify the text both horizontally
and vertically, and uncheck Resize text box to fit text in
order to stretch the box to the desired size. To have the names of the
bride and groom stand out, keep the names on their own line so the letters
will spread, and add four spaces to either side of the “to”
and “son of.”
Platinum
users also have the benefit to pre-printing their guests’ names
on the reply cards. This is done by creating a 3.5 x 5 inner envelope
and adding a text box with the rest of the reply information. Use
a brown 4 Bar envelope
for the reply card and a brown A7 for the invitation. Use black text
in a matching font.
