Labor Day picnic It’s amazing how quickly the summer months fly by, but the end of the season is already on the horizon.
If you’re not quite ready to trade your flip flops for loafers, why not throw a Labor Day picnic to gather
your friends for one last summer fling? Whether you’re in the mood for a formal event or a casual get-together,
we’ve got invitations that will work for you.
For an elegant affair, try our PrintingPress design,
featuring an Envelopments Gate Fold. We added the first initial of the family’s last name using the Benjamin Shadow Drop font from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings to the top of the 4.5 x 6.5 Classic Ecru card stock. We added mirror images of decorative flowers on either
side of the initial. We added the invitation details using the Alyssa Afternoon and Benjamin Shadow Drop fonts
from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings. We used a double-stick
tape gun to adhere the 4.5x6.5 card stock to
5x7 Aruba card stock, which we then mounted onto a 5x7 Cocoa Gate Fold. We added the initial and flowers to
the 2.25 x 3.25 seal, which we printed using the 4-up feature in PrintingPress to print 4 seals on 4.5 x 6.5
Classic Ecru card stock. We trimmed the seals and used a double-stick tape gun to adhere them to 2.75 x 3.75
custom cut Aruba card stock, then mounted the completed seal to the outside of the Gate Fold. Since it’s
a formal invitation, we created a two-sided response postcard on 4.25 x 5.5 custom cut Aruba card stock. Slip
all the pieces into the 5x7 Aruba envelope and you’re ready to party.
If you’re in the mood for a more casual picnic, check out our PrintingPress Platinum design. We created
a bandana-inspired border in red and white and added it to a White A6 card. We added the invitation text using
the Benjamin font from Fonts & Graphics 2. Paired with a Deep Red A6 envelope, it’s sure to get noticed
in anyone’s mailbox.
Our PrintingPress Extreme
4.0 design takes the
picnic theme to the limit. We added a 1.5” custom border
with the shape set to Line (Bottom), and the margins set to zero and filled it with a gingham pattern
inspired by a picnic tablecloth. We added a red flower from the pattern to the top of the White A7 card and
added the invitation text using the Benjamin Caps font from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings. Since the design
bleeds all the way to the edge of the card, we used our printer’s borderless printing feature. We added
a black version of the flower above and below the return address on the back flap of the Deep Red A7 envelope.

Sending
my love to you
When you’re
young, one of the best things about going away is getting care packages from home. Our PrintingPress Extreme
address labels will help you send your young college students parcels with style. Both designs use standard
3.5 x 5 inch labels that you can purchase in most office supply stores.
For the young man heading off to school, our
bold orange and black label is sure to please. We added a Solid
fill background to the label to add the orange, and you can easily change it to use his favorite color.
We set the margin for the background fill to 0.25 inches and then added a custom border in black with 0.125
inch margins to leave a strip of white between the black line and the background color. We then added a
return address using a floating text box. To make the address really stand out, we turned off the Make
White Transparent setting to leave the white background of the address text box opaque. We then added
a custom border to the text box to add white and black outlines around the address. We increased the inset
on the text box to have more space between the address and the lines. Both the address and the return address
use the Benjamin Caps font from Fonts & Graphics for
Weddings.
For young coeds, we created a more feminine design in brown and aqua. We added the aqua as a background fill
with 0.3125 inch margins to leave some white space around the aqua. Next we added a custom border in brown
using the Bumps line type. We set the border’s margins to 0.125 inches. Again, we added the
return address using a floating text box and both the address and return address use the Benjamin Caps font
from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings.

Oh baby When
you’re expecting a baby, there are
so many things to organize and plan, designing birth announcements can seem an insurmountable task. Not
to worry – we’ve
got adorable announcements for all the fall babies on their way.
Our PrintingPress design featuring an Envelopments
Gate Fold is perfect for a bouncing baby boy. Of course, you can easily modify the colors if
you like for a new little princess. We added the baby’s
photo to 3.125 x 4.5 custom cut Classic White card stock. We then used the Convert to Grayscale feature
to make the photo black & white and added a faded border to blend the photo into the background of the
white card. We printed the baby’s info in blue using the Benjamin font from Fonts & Graphics
2.
We used a double-stick tape
gun to
adhere the card to 3.375 x 4.75 custom cut Wasabi card stock and then mounted the pair to a 3.5x5 Tibetan
Blue Gate Fold. We used the 4-up feature to print four 2x2 inch seals featuring a baby in a blue carriage
and the words “it’s
a boy” on 4 x 4 custom cut Classic White
card stock. We trimmed the seals and mounted them to 2.25 x 2.25 custom cut Wasabi card stock and then mounted
the completed seal to the outside of the Gate Fold. Paired with a 3.5x5 Wasabi envelope, it’s cute
as a button.
Our PrintingPress Platinum design is 100% girly.
We added a cupcake topped with pink frosting and a cherry to the top of a White Scalloped 4-bar card. We
added a pink and red graphical border and then added the baby’s
info in pink using the Brina Strong font from Fonts & Graphics 3. We created a matching thank you note
using a White Scalloped A2 folded note card. We added just the baby’s name beneath the cupcake on the
thank you note. Both the announcement and the thank you note are paired with Deep Red envelopes lined in
Pink.
Our PrintingPress
Extreme 4.0 design uses Chocolate
envelopes for an autumnal feel. We added the baby’s
photo to the top of the White 4-bar card and added a pink custom border to the photo using the Bumps line
type. We added a 2 pt white inner pen to add a white outline between the photo and the pink bumps. We added
a green shape object and set the outline to 30 pts with the line type set to Bumps to coordinate
with the photo. We selected the shape and then choose Image, Float Behind Text in the Design menu
to move the shape behind the main text area of the card. For more details on the different layers in your
stationery, please review the Extreme
Tip from the June 2006 issue of the Mountaincow Monthly. We added the baby’s info in white using
the Ryan font. The matching White 4-bar folded thank you note uses the same shape behind the baby’s name.
Since both designs bleed all the way to the edge of the card, we used our printer’s borderless printing
feature. Both cards are paired with Chocolate envelopes lined in Pink. To change the color scheme for a boy,
set the photo’s custom border color to blue and line the envelopes in Avocado or Blue.

Here
comes the bride
If you’re busy planning a wedding you
know that finding the perfect invitation is critical. These gorgeous new designs can be modified for
a variety of color schemes.
For a modern invitation, try our
PrintingPress design featuring our Sour Apple stationery. We added a bold black & white paisley to the
top left of the A7 card. We added the invitation text in black using the Arial font and then mirrored the
paisley at the bottom of the card. We repeated the design for the 4-bar response card, menu card and place
card. With the strong use of color, it is a striking invitation.
Our exquisite Platinum design features
a background image of an elegant flourish on a field of avocado green printed on Ivory stationery. We used
floating text boxes to add the invitation text to the A7 invitation. The bride and groom’s names are in the Alyssa Afternoon font from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings. We
created a separate text box for the rest of the invitation text in the Benjamin Caps font from Fonts & Graphics
for Weddings so that we could expand the horizontal and vertical spacing for an airy look. We repeated the
same design for the 4-bar response card, menu, place card and 6 x 6 inch custom cut table card. The Ivory envelopes
are lined in Avocado.
For a new take on traditional white,
try our modern PrintingPress Extreme 4.0 design. We used a
rectangle shape at the top of the White A7 card to add blue, green and white stripes. We added the invitation
text aligned to the bottom left of the invitation using the Arial font. We added the bride and groom’s
names separated by a plus in the same blue and green used in the stripes and then added the invitation text
in a smaller point size below the names. Since the design bleeds all the way to the edge of the card, we
used our printer’s
borderless printing feature. After printing the card, we used a corner
punch to round the edges of the card
to complete the invitation’s modern look. We duplicated the same design for the 4-bar response card,
menu, place card and 5 x 5 inch custom cut table card. The white envelopes are lined in Blue.

Outside the box
PrintingPress
Extreme 4.0’s shape tool
gives you the ability to add shapes anywhere on any piece of stationery. One of our favorite use of shapes is
to add bold stripes or asymmetrical fields of color, both bleeding to the edge of the card.
For this month’s Extreme birth announcement,
we created a green rectangular shape with a thick Bumps outline.
In order to make the bumps appear only at the top of the field of green, we adjusted the size of the shape
so that it is wider than the card. We stretched the height of the shape to bring the bottom edge below the
bottom of the card, so all that you see is a field of green with the bumps against the white of the card at
the top.

Our Extreme spring wedding invitation also uses shapes to bring color and style to the design. We created
a blue rectangular shape and then added a 4 pt white inner pen and a 4 pt green outline. In order to create
a multicolor stripe without the green and white outline at the left and right sides of the shape, we enlarged
the shape so that it is wider than the card.
