Company's coming
Been meaning to have friends over while the weather is still warm? Use these invitations to get the plans in motion immediately.

Our new eye-catching combo of Aqua and Deep Red makes a great two-tone invitation. We printed a mod square design and the party info on White 4-Bar cards and used a double stick tape gun to mount them onto the A7 Aqua cards. We duplicated the square design and Beckles Wide text in red on the White menus, and used the same red text on the White place cards.

Our Platinum design uses an avocado and chocolate border around A6 Café au Lait stationery. We used a combination of the fonts Alyssa Afternoon and Benjamin Caps from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings on the invitation. For a final elegant touch, we used a floating text box to add “Please join us for dinner” in off-white Benjamin Shadow from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings along the bottom of the border. We duplicated the design on the Ivory menu and place card.

Drench your invitation in color using PrintingPress Extreme. We used our printer’s borderless printing feature to print to the edge of a White 4-bar card (see how in our November 2004 Tech Tip). We set the background of the card to brown and added a pink text box with an avocado border floating over the main text area to create the color block effect. We used white Point Justified text in Ryan in the main text area to make the most important words, "dinner party," really stand out. We then mounted the card onto A7 Avocado stationery and lined the envelopes in Deep Pink. We duplicated the color block design on the White menus and place cards and also printed them to the edge.

Get hooked
For a beachy wedding, we used PrintingPress Extreme and the new Ivory / Twilight color combination to create an under-the-sea save the date card. We added a background image of a seahorse to a 4-Bar Ivory card so that all the important details neatly fit in the body of the seahorse, and surrounded the seahorse with shells and starfish. We used the Noodles font from Fonts & Graphics 3 for the couple’s names and Benjamin Caps from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings for the date and place. We used a floating text box to bend the “Invitation to Follow” text into a spiral and rotated it to the right 16 degrees to perfectly fit in the tail. We aligned the text to the left and shrank the size of the text box to make the text twist tighter in the spiral. To complete the look, we lined the 4-Bar Twilight envelope with an Ivory envelope liner.

Letter perfect
With PrintingPress, you don’t have to wait for your address to change to make new stationery for yourself. Instead, follow the seasons, or even your mood.

For a simple, girly design, we printed the name in the Ryan font from Fonts & Graphics 3 in brown with sweet little daisies on each side. We used Twilight Truffle A7 flat and A2 folded stationery. To print the return address, we created a reply envelope and moved the address up to fit on the back envelope flap.

Our Platinum design uses a border of aqua and brown dots to tie together the colors of the Oasis A7 flat and A2 folded stationery. We used the Noodles font from Fonts & Graphics 3 for the name and made it brown to match the Chocolate envelopes.

For a traditional note set, our Extreme design uses the classic colors of the Ivory / Midnight stationery. We created a white circle monogram and added a large rectangular navy background with a thin white border. For the A7 flat card, we stretched the monogram to make it taller than the card so the top and bottom of the navy background would be cut off. For the folded 4-bar card, we stretched the monogram to make it wider than the card so the sides would be cut off. For more information on using asymmetrical backgrounds, see this month’s Extreme Tip. We used our printer’s borderless printing feature to print both cards right to the edge (see how in our November 2004 Tech Tip). We created a return address envelope and added the return address in one line in Beckles Wide.

Dreaming of winter weddings
If you’re walking down the aisle this winter, take advantage of Mountaincow’s hip color combinations or create a pocket fold invitation using Envelopments® mix and match stationery.

Our PrintingPress design uses hot colors for a cold wedding. We combined the bold orange and magenta colors of our Orange A7 Two Tone stationery with the clean letters of the Arial font. We used the same simple text on Orange menus, place cards and 4” x 4” Orange and 6” x 6” Magenta custom cut table cards.

Our Platinum designs uses a striking aqua and red floral background image on A7 White / Deep Red stationery. We used a similar background for the White / Deep Red 4-Bar reply cards and the White menus, place cards and 8” x 8” custom cut table cards. We used a combination of the Alyssa Afternoon and Benjamin Caps fonts from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings for the text on the cards. We used our printer’s borderless printing feature to print all of the cards (see how in our November 2004 Tech Tip).

Our PrintingPress Extreme design uses the beautiful metallic stationery from the Envelopments® mix and match collection now available in Mountaincow's online store. Please note that the metallic stationery can only be printed with a laser printer.

The entire project combines shades of brown, pink and ivory through the layering of the Envelopments® Metallic colors Bronze, Rubelite, Tourmaline and Ecru Micah. First a 5x7 Rubelite card stock backing is mounted onto a Bronze 5x7 Signature Portrait Pocket Fold. For the invitation, we used a combination of the fonts Benjamin Caps and Alyssa Black Tie from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings. We used brown Alyssa Black Tie in a large point size for the bride and groom’s names and joined them with an elegant pink ampersand. We used the more traditional Benjamin Caps in brown for the invitation details. We added pink flourishes and printed on 4 5/8” x 6 5/8” custom cut Ecru Micah card stock, then mounted it on top of the Rubelite card stock.

The Pocket Fold’s pocket holds a directions card printed on 5” x 6.75” custom cut Rubelite card stock, a reception card printed on 5” x 6” custom cut Tourmaline card stock and a response postcard printed on 5” x 5.25” custom cut Ecru Micah card stock. These cards are all custom cut in graduating sizes and are layered so the heading of each card can be seen at a glance. Insert all the additional cards into the Pocket Fold and send in a 5x7 Rubelite envelope.

We made an elegant menu holder that also serves as a place card using a Bronze 5x5 Portable Pocket that has a stand made from a 4x5 Bronze Landscape Z-Card. We folded the Z-Card into a triangle and used regular tape to close it. We then used a double stick tape gun to adhere the Z-Card to the Portable Pocket. We printed 8 place cards on a sheet of 8.5 x 11 Ecru Micah card stock with the guests’ names and table numbers. Then we trimmed the place cards to their 4.75” x 2” size and mounted them onto 5.25” x 2.5” custom cut Rubelite card stock backings, which are then mounted to the front of the Portable Pockets. The menu is printed on 5x7 Ecru Micah card stock and inserted into the Portable Pocket so the names of the couple peek out over the top.

For a simpler place card option, we’ve included a design for an Ecru Micah 1x4 Folded Card which can be used with the menu card from above.

Extreme Tip

Stretch to the limit
PrintingPress Extreme allows you to add a background color to any text box or monogram. By using white text for the text box or monogram and adding a border, you can create a powerful design element with ease.

To go one step further, you can resize the text box or monogram so that the background is larger than the content it holds. In this month’s fall stationery, we used the monogram’s background to make a stripe along the card. Just choose Monogram, Insert Monogram in the Design menu to create your monogram. Type in your initials and choose Circle in the Style combo box to create a traditional circle monogram. Click the Background button to specify a background color for your monogram. Then click the Next button to modify the size. If you increase both the height and width, the monogram will increase in size to fill the background. If you increase the background unevenly, then it will create either a horizontal or vertical stripe of the background color. To increase the thickness of the background around the monogram without increasing the size of the monogram, click the Next button and increase the setting in the Inset from edge of border section.

For our A7 flat card, for example, we set the height to 5 inches and the width to 1 inch. Then click the Next button and choose Custom to add a custom border. In this example, we set the inset to 22 pixels to increase the width of the navy background to the sides of the monogram, then added an outline in the same color as the background and a white fill set to 0.04 inches.
