 School's
(almost) in
Nothing
means heading back to the classroom more than the sight of rulers, pencils
and that black and white composition notebook. To help build your child's
excitement about going back to school, use the old-school school supplies
as fun images to adorn a back-to-school party invitation. For our Platinum
project, download our project for the invitation and plug in your party’s
information. Since this project “bleeds to the edge”, you
need to print out on a full 8 ½” x 11” sheet of cardstock
and then trim down to the final size of 10" x 7". You’ll
need to trim ¾” from the top and bottom edges of the notebook,
and ½” from the left and right edges of the notebook. Using
a corner punch, round the edges of the card for an authentic detail. Bonus:
if you upgrade to
Platinum now, you’ll receive a free corner punch with your order
(while supplies last). For 2.0 users,
create a 4.5” x 6.25” card with a “fake” fold
only 3.75” in, and margins of .25 inches. The fake fold is a trick
for 2.0 users to have images beside text. The ruler will take up the entire
left side of the card, and you can plug your party details on the right.
We used Jessie, a fun hand-writing font available in our Fonts
& Graphics, Collection 2. Order blank white cards with apple-for-the-teacher
red envelopes from our Classic
stationery collection to get started.

The
4-1-1 on 9-1-1
Let's
face it, the most important phone number your kids and babysitters need
to know is 911. But sometimes when you're away, problems do come up and
you want your kids' caregiver to be able to get the furnace fixed right
away or take your little one to the right doctor for that sore throat. Important
phone numbers should be easy to find and easy to read. What better way
to have them all in one place and be able to make as many copies as you
need? Use PrintingPress to make a list of home, office and cell numbers.
You can even import a picture of a neighbor or doctor for easy reference.
We used Benjamin, a fun serif font available in our Fonts
& Graphics, Collection 2. This project prints two per page for
double the convenience. Stick one on the fridge for the babysitter, and
bring one over to the grandparent’s house so they have an easy reference,
too.

 Mail
call
College
years can mean different addresses each term, or even each semester. With
PrintingPress, students can still have personalized stationery with envelopes
pre-printed with their dorm address. And since grandparents deserve hand-written
letters from the library stacks, make sure your teen has a plentiful supply
to avoid any excuses. For
our 2.0 example, we wrote the student’s name down the left side
of the card. Start with a 4.5” x 6.25” card with margins set
at .25 inches on the top, bottom and left. Set the right margin to 3.25”
to make a slim window so you can center the letters of the name. Match
the color of the name to the envelope. For
the Betty Co-Ed, use the Platinum edition to make flirty note cards that
are sealed with a kiss. A text box holds the name in Sky Pie in a bright
orange. The lips are a floating image that can be “smacked”
anywhere. It’s used again on the back flap of the envelope. To add
images to your envelopes, upgrade
to Platinum. For
more styles and ideas, check out our complete
guide to all the different standard sizes and uses for personalized
stationery. Use blank white cards with a colorful envelope envelopes from
our Classic
stationery collection or try the get-noticed color combinations in
our Colors stationery
collection.

Labor-free
party planning
The
last excuse for a summer gathering: Labor Day. Using Mountaincow’s
classic sailboat
stationery, invite the gang over for one last dip in the pool, ride
on the lake, run through the sprinkler. This is the perfect opportunity
to use up some of the bulk shopping you did in the beginning of the
summer (anyone else have a case of hot dog rolls in the freezer?) and
give that sundress one more wear.
Platinum
users can make a beach-y invitation with the party plea falling out
of a pail. Use text boxes to rotate them to the right at varying angles.
We used Jessie, a font from Fonts
& Graphics, Collection 2, for a fun, casual style.

How
do I import addresses from Excel?
You
can download our address template
and fill in the columns in Excel. You do not need to fill in all the
columns, just enter the information that you want to appear in your
address book. Before you save, click on the column header of the home
postal code column, choose Cells in the Format
menu and select Special in the Category field. Leave
Zip Code selected and click OK. This will prevent
Excel from deleting the leading zero on your zip codes. Save the file
from Excel as CSV to your My Documents folder by choosing Save As
in the File menu and selecting "CSV (Comma Delimited *CSV)"
in the the Save As Type box at the bottom of the window.
Next
open PrintingPress and choose Import Addresses in the Address
Book menu. Select the CSV file you saved from Excel in your My
Documents folder. Your addresses will be imported and any conflicts
will be brought to your attention to be resolved.
