Just for Mom (PrintingPress)

Our PrintingPress design is perfect for the fashionista Mom. A red stiletto sandal stands at the top of the White A7 card. We added Mom’s name at the bottom of the card in the same red as the peep toe using the Benjamin Caps font from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings. We added an extra space between each letter in the name for an airy look. We repeated the same design on the front of a White A2 folded note card. We created Reply envelopes so that you can print just Mom’s return address on the back, and Addressed envelopes in case you’d like to print some for yourself. We lined the Deep Red envelopes in Cinnamon and added stiletto sandal (persimmon) Personalized StationeryStamps.

If your Mom shuns high heels (even on paper), check out our vibrant PrintingPress Platinum design. We added a background image with a flock of butterflies in a variety of bright colors and patterns fluttering across the right side of the White A7 card. We added the name using all lowercase letters in the upper left corner of the card. We added the first name in green using the Times New Roman font. Then we added the last name immediately after the first name (without leaving a space) in blue using the Arial font. We added a similar background image to the front of a White A2 folded note card and added the name the same way. We created both Addressed and Reply envelopes for this design as well. We lined the Dusty Blue envelopes in Avocado and added butterfly (lime branches) Personalized StationeryStamps.

Just for Mom (Platinum)
Just for Mom (Extreme)

Our PrintingPress Extreme 5.0 design is perfect for Moms who craves a touch of elegance. We added a colorful custom border to a White A7 card. We set the border's Shape to Line (Bottom) and filled the border with a new decorative emblem (magenta & orange) pattern. We added a 5 point inner pen to the border and used the Sample Color tool to exactly match the orange in the pattern. We added Mom’s first initial in magenta using the Alyssa font from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings at the top of the card. Then we added the entire name using the Times New Roman font with the Text Case set to UPPERCASE. We repeated the same border on the front of a White 4-bar folded note card and made the initial and name larger. Since the borders run to the edge of the cards, we used our printer’s borderless printing feature. We created Return Address envelopes for you to print as a gift, and Addressed envelopes for you to print for yourself. We used the Alternate Font feature to print the recipient’s name in the Alyssa font while the address uses the Benjamin Caps font. For tips on this technique, see this month’s Extreme Tip. We lined the Magenta envelopes in Pink Lemonade and added coordinating Custom Image StationeryStamps.

Hats off to the graduate!
It’s hard to believe, but the school year is nearing an end. For some children, the end of this school year marks a milestone. Whether your child is leaving for college next year, or moving up to middle school, a graduation party is par for the course. If you want something a bit more creative than the standard mortar board invite, check out our innovative new graduation designs in a variety of styles to suit any soiree.

If you’re planning an elegant gathering, take a look at our PrintingPress design. We started by adding “CLASS OF 2010” in blue to the top of a White 4.75 x 6.75 inch custom cut card. We added brown flourish images on either side of the “2010” and flipped the image on the right so that it is a mirror image of the flourish on the left. We used the Times New Roman font in brown for the rest of the invitation text, but added the honoree’s name in blue using the Isabelle font from Fonts & Graphics 2. We used a double-stick tape gun to adhere the invitation to a Dark Chocolate A7 card. We printed the Metallic Arctic Blue envelopes using our color laser printer. If you don’t have access to a laser printer, try Powder Blue envelopes instead.

Graduation Party (PrintingPress)

Graduation Party (Platinum)

For a groovy girl, try our PrintingPress Platinum design. We added a background image with a purple, aqua and green retro pattern above a stripe of aqua to a White A7 card. We adjusted the margins to place the text below the pattern and added the invitation text in white using the Times New Roman font. We used two floating text boxes to add the words “class of 2017” using the Times New Roman font in the bottom right corner of the card. Next, we added a photograph of the graduate as a floating image and cropped it to be square. We floated the photo above the main area of text of the card, and floated an image of a white square below the main text area of the card and centered it behind the photograph to make a white frame surrounding the photo. Since the design goes to the edge of the card, we used our printer’s borderless printing feature. We lined the Avocado envelopes in Violet.

If your graduate’s tastes run modern, our PrintingPress Extreme 5.0 design may be just right for you. We started by adding four floating shape objects along the left side of a White 4.75 x 6.75 inch custom cut card. We filled the middle two shapes with a blue pattern and a green pattern, and then filled the top and bottom shapes in the same blue and green. We adjusted the margins to move the main text area to the left of the shapes and added the invitation text in gray using the Arial font with the Text Case set to lowercase. We added the honoree’s name in blue and used a floating text box to add the words “class of 2010” in white above the blue shape. We used a double-stick tape gun to mount the invitation to a Pewter A7 card. We lined the White envelopes lined in Avocado and added coordinating Custom Image StationeryStamps.

Extreme Tip

It's fontastic!
PrintingPress Extreme 5.0 includes an Alternate Font feature for envelopes, address labels, place cards and postcards to allow you to use more than one font for the names printed from your Mailing List or Guest List. To enable the Alternate Font feature, click on the placeholder address on the front of the envelope and then click on the Alternate Font Options button in the Character palette in the Design palette group. Choose one of the alternate font options in popup menu that appears. In our example, we chose The label name.

Alternate Font Options

Once you have specified when the alternate font should be used, click on the Main / Alternate Font combo box and choose alternate text and then use the controls to modify the font, color, size, etc. for the alternate font. In our example, we set the alternate font to the Alyssa font and decreased the Line Spacing to move the address up closer to the label name.

Because we chose The label name option, the entire label name will use the alternate font when we print from our Mailing List even if the label name has more than one line such as the example shown below. If you only want the first line to use the alternate font, choose The first line only as the alternate font option.
