Mother’s
Day Brunch
Young or old,
moms work hard and deserve a day of acclaim. Join together with other family members to honor all the moms
in your family with a family brunch on Mother’s Day this year. In case you’re in the
mood for a formal sit-down brunch, we’ve included place cards with each of our projects.
Our PrintingPress design has a field of bold black
and white flowers along the bottom of the White A7 invitation. We added the invitation text in pink and white
using the Noodles font from Fonts & Graphics 3. Paired
with a Blush A7 envelope lined in Pink, it creates a modern yet feminine
look, perfect for today’s mom. The
names are printed on White place cards in black using the Noodles font.
For a more traditional look, try our Platinum
invitation. A large peony blooms at the bottom left of the Ivory A7 card. The brunch details are typed in
green using the Alyssa Afternoon font from Fonts & Graphics for
Weddings. Since the flower extends to the edge of the invitation, we used our printer’s borderless feature.
For more information on borderless printing, review the Tech
Tip from the November 2004 issue of the Mountaincow Monthly. We lined the Ivory A7 envelope in Avocado and used a matching Ivory place card. To print all the way to the edge of the folded place card, we created
a non-folded place card in PrintingPress Platinum and checked the Feed stationery bottom-first checkbox
in the Print window.
Our PrintingPress
Extreme 4.0 design is whimsical yet sophisticated. A pair of cherries tops the White A7
card, which also has a blue and brown striped border with the shape Line (Top). For more information
on the new line border shape, see this month’s Extreme Tip. The invitation
details are added in brown using the Arial font in all lowercase letters. The address and return address on
the Chocolate A7 envelope
also use all lowercase letters. We added a Blue envelope
liner and a matching White place card. To print all
the way to the edge of the folded place card, we created a non-folded place card in PrintingPress Extreme and
checked the Feed stationery bottom-first checkbox in the Print window.

Vogue Note Cards
A
new season means new fashion, and our new folded note cards are hot off the presses. The powerful design
features of PrintingPress Extreme 4.0 allowed us to create these fabulous, hip designs. We used our printer’s
borderless feature to print all the way to the edge of each note card. For more information on borderless
printing, review the Tech
Tip from the November 2004 issue of the Mountaincow Monthly.
Bold black and white designs are everywhere
this season, including our first note card. We added a custom border to the front of the White 4-bar folded
note card and created a custom pattern that uses an image of black and white cherry blossoms. We added
a green inner pen to the border and then added the name using the Benjamin Caps font from Fonts & Graphics
for Weddings.
We paired the note card with a Clover 4-bar envelope with a Deep
Pink envelope liner.
Step into spring with our leopard pump note
card. Printed on a White 4-bar folded note card, the shoe sits atop the name written in the Noodles font
from Fonts & Graphics 3. We created a custom border
using a custom pattern of pink on pink dots and added an inner pen with a green dotted line. Paired with
a Magenta 4-bar envelope lined in animal print (leopard), it is bound to get noticed in anyone’s mailbox.
Bold black and white peonies abound on the front
of our third note card. We used floating images to repeat the same large flower in each corner of the White
4-bar folded note card
and added floating leaf images in between the flowers. We used a floating text box with the Make White
Transparent setting turned off to add the name to the
front of the card using the Benjamin Caps font from Fonts & Graphics
for Weddings. We added a pink custom border to the text box using the Bumps line type and
set the text box’s Inset to 50 to increase the amount of white space surrounding the name.
Slip into a Magenta 4-bar envelope lined in Pink.

Mom’s the
word
Don’t worry if you haven’t found the right gift for Mom yet. Spruce up the same old flowers
and chocolates that she gets every year with a fabulous pack of personalized stationery! We have flat and
folded versions of each design, so you can make both or pick the one you think she’ll use the most.
Print her name on the card and her return address on the back of the envelope and she can write personal
notes for hours. Slip the stationery into a clear bag or just tie it with a ribbon and you’ve got a
gift that will thrill and impress.
For the mom with a little sass in her step,
try our PrintingPress design. We combined our White / Teal stationery with bold Deep
Red envelope liners for a striking look. We added the name in red using the Noodles
font from Fonts & Graphics 3 along
with a red dress to the front of the White A6 flat card and the White A2 folded note card.
If your mom is on top of the current trends,
then she’ll love our Platinum design. We used our new
Peony stationery in A7 flat and A2 folded note cards and lined the envelopes with our animal
print (zebra) liners for a striking look. We kept
the cards simple and used floating text boxes to add the name in the Benjamin Caps font from Fonts & Graphics
for Weddings. We increased the horizontal spacing in the text boxes to give the text an airy look.
For an art deco flashback, check out our PrintingPress
Extreme 4.0 design. We started with our traditional A7 flat and A2 folded Café au
Lait stationery and mixed things up a bit with a custom pattern of white spirals on a brown canvas. We used
a custom border with the Line (Top) shape setting to add a strip of the pattern at the top of the
card. For more information on the new line border shape, see this month’s Extreme
Tip. We added a blue inner
pen to the border and then added the name in a floating text box with the background color set to the same
blue. We added the name in all lowercase letters using the Arial font and added a custom border to the text
box using the Ticket (Landscape) shape. We gave the text box an inset brown border by adding a blue
outline and a brown inner pen to the custom border. Since the border goes all the way to the edge of the
card, we used our printer’s borderless feature. For more information on borderless printing, review
the Tech Tip from
the November 2004 issue of the Mountaincow Monthly. For the folded note, we added a blue border to the card
and then filled the background with the same custom pattern. We used the same text box to add the name to
the center of the card.

Memorial Day Picnic
After
a long, cold winter, we’re ready to skip spring and head straight into summer! If you’re
feeling the same way, use our charming Memorial Day Picnic invitations to kick off the summer season with a
dozen or so of your closest friends.
For a traditional nautical theme,
we top our PrintingPress design with a blue sailboat We chose our White / Midnight A6 stationery and a Deep
Red envelope liner for a patriotic look. We added the information text in Benjamin Caps from Fonts & Graphics
for Weddings for a classic invitation.
For a fresh style, try our Platinum
design. A sweet strawberry tops the White 4-bar card. A red and white dotted border surrounds the text, which
uses the Benjamin font from Fonts & Graphics 2. We lined the Deep
Red 4-bar envelope using a stripes (pink & red) liner to complete the fun.
Our PrintingPress
Extreme 4.0 design
features three playful seahorses atop Granny Smith A2 Two Tone stationery. We added the invitation text in
green using the Meegles font from Fonts & Graphics 3. We used a custom
border with the shape set to Line (Bottom) to add two green dotted lines at the bottom of the card.
For more information on the new line border shape, see this month’s Extreme Tip. We adhered the White
4-bar card to the Avocado A2 card with a double-stick tape gun. Slip the completed invitation into the Avocado
envelope lined in Deep Pink and you’re set.

On the sidelines
PrintingPress
Extreme 4.0’s Line border
shapes make it easy to add a strip of color to any stationery. Add a custom border to your stationery by
choosing Stationery Border, Add Border in the Design menu
and then choosing Custom in the Border type section. Use the Shape combo box in
the Border shape and fill details section to choose the border’s shape. The four new border
shapes are Line (Bottom), Line (Left), Line (Top) and Line (Right).
This month’s Mother’s Day brunch and
Mom’s
the word projects use a Line (Top) border
shape. The brunch invitation achieves the look of two brown stripes surrounding a blue stripe by adding a 13
pt brown Outline and Inner Pen. Next set the Fill width in the Border shape
and fill details section to
0.13 inches and set the color to blue. We made the stripe print all the way to the edge of the card by setting
the Left field
in the Margin
from edge section to
zero. We moved the stripe down from the very top of the card to leave room for the cherry image by setting
the Top field in the Margin from edge section to 1.5 inches.

This month’s Memorial Day picnic project
uses the Line (Bottom) border shape. The line bleeds
to the edge of the card again, so we set the Left field in the Margin from edge section to
zero. To create the double dotted line, we added a 3 pt Outline and Inner Pen using the Dotted
(adjacent to fill) line type. We set the Space field for both lines to 4 to spread out the dots

You can fill your line border with any color, shape or pattern. You can use a regular straight line or the
new dotted and bump line types. The possibilities are endless.
