Save the Date Wedding Invitations Menu Place Cards Wedding Announcements

It’s our favorite time of year here at Mountaincow: wedding season! We love any excuse to create an invitation, and your pending big day offers endless inspiration. First, we help you get off on the right track with our fabulous new save the date cards so you can rest easy that all your guests will be able to attend. Next we help you turn your attention to your wedding invitations, and our beautiful Mountaincow Pocket Folder invitation designs are sure to get noticed. For the reception, we offer a new twist with combination place cards and menus to give guests something to read as they meander to their tables (and reduce the number of cards that you need to print!) And if you’ve planned an intimate destination ceremony (or maybe even snuck off to Vegas and eloped), you can spread the news of your union in style with our fabulous wedding announcements. Of course, all of our new designs include coordinating Custom Image StationeryStamps for a completely personal statement.

As always, we’ve got some special new treats for you this year.  Sharon Naylor, our friend and resident Etiquette Expert at iVillage Weddings, has fabulous suggestions for you on hot new topics like 2008 wedding and reception trends, custom postage style, and of course, planning a “green” wedding.  In addition, our friends at Paper Zone are hosting a Wedding Weekend event at their 10 locations in the Pacific Northwest.  If you’re in the neighborhood, grab your fiancé, your mom or a bridesmaid and head over to check it out.

Save the Date
Being engaged is an exciting time, so go ahead and spread the news and share your joy with the world. Save the Date cards not only let you share your good news, but they serve the practical purpose of giving people the chance to block off the date on their calendar and make any necessary travel arrangements. We have a range of new designs from flirty to formal to suit any style.

Our PrintingPress design is simple and refined, featuring the bride and groom’s names in red atop an Ecru 4-bar card. We used a combination of the Times New Roman font and Alyssa Afternoon from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings in red and brown. We paired the card with an Ecru 4-bar envelope lined in Deep Red and completed the look with personalized Custom Image StationeryStamps using Ivory sheets.

For a combination of modern and elegance, try our layered PrintingPress Platinum design. We added a black leaf design to the bottom right corner of an Avocado 4 x 6 inch custom cut card. We used a combination of the Arial font and Alyssa Afternoon from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings to add the wedding details. To join the bride and groom’s names, we used a floating text box to add an ampersand beside the names. Since the leaves bleed off the edge of the card, we used our printer’s borderless printing feature. We used a double-stick tape gun to adhere the Avocado card onto a Black 4.25 x 6.25 inch custom cut card, creating the effect that the black leaves join with the backing layer. Mail in an Avocado A6 envelope with Custom Image StationeryStamps.

Our PrintingPress Extreme 4.0 design features a new botanical pattern blanketing the front of an Ecru 4-bar folded note card. We used a floating text box to add the words “Save the Date” using a combination of the Times New Roman font and the Isabelle font from Fonts & Graphics 2 to the front of the card. We turned off the Make White Transparent setting so that the white background of the text box will be opaque. We added a custom border to the text box in the same brown used in the pattern. We added the wedding details on the inside of the card, using a combination of the Times New Roman font, the Isabelle font and the Alyssa font from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings. We used the SmallCaps advanced text style to turn the Times New Roman font into a small caps font. Since the pattern runs all the way to edge of the card, we used our printer’s borderless printing feature. Slip it into an Ecru envelope lined in Chocolate, and send it using Custom Image StationeryStamps using Ivory sheets.

You’re invited...
Your wedding invitation is possibly the biggest personal statement you will ever send in the mail. And when you make your invitations yourself, you have total control over the design, color scheme and cost. Our beautiful Mountaincow Pocket Folder designs offer a variety of options for discerning couples. Our Custom Image StationeryStamps make it easy for you to personalize your design on the outside of the envelope as well.

For a traditional ceremony, try our PrintingPress design featuring a Mountaincow Complete Pocket Invitation Set in the A8 Portrait Pocket Folder (curved flap) size. We added a brown decorative botanical flourish above and below the bride and groom’s names, which are written in blue using the Alyssa font from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings at the top of the Ecru invitation card. We added the rest of the invitation text below in brown using the Benjamin Caps font from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings. We used a double-stick tape gun to mount the Ecru card onto the Powder Blue A7 backing card, and then mounted the pair onto the Dark Chocolate Pocket Folder. We added another brown botanical flourish to the Ecru directions card and the Ecru response card, which is paired with a Powder Blue 4-bar envelope. Send the completed invitation in an Ecru A8 envelope. Add Custom Image StationeryStamps with Ivory Sheets to the invitation and response envelopes to complete the look.

If you’re loving this year’s trendy animal prints, then our PrintingPress Platinum design is just right for you. We added a bold zebra stripe to the bottom of a White 4 x 6 inch custom cut card. We added the bride and groom’s names to the top of the card using the Alyssa Afternoon font from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings, and joined the names by adding an avocado ampersand in a floating text box, floating it behind the main text area of the card. Next we used a floating text box to add the invitation text using the Benjamin Caps font from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings. We increased the horizontal and vertical spacing for an airy look. Since the zebra design is flush with the edge of the card, we used our printer’s borderless printing feature to print the invitation card. We used a double-stick tape gun to glue the card to an Avocado 4.5 x 6.5 custom cut card, then adhered the pair to a Black Linen A8 Portrait Pocket Folder (pointed flap). We added a zebra stripe to the White A7 directions card and the White 4-bar response card as well. We chose Avocado for both the A8 invitation envelope and the 4-bar response envelope, and added Custom Image StationeryStamps.

For a mix of traditional and modern, try our PrintingPress Extreme 4.0 design featuring a fabulous new pattern. We used a custom border with the shape set to Line (Left) to add a stripe of black and white dandelions to the left side of the White 4 x 6 inch custom cut card. We added the bride and groom’s names in avocado using the Alyssa Afternoon font from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings, and added the rest of the invitation text in black using the Benjamin font from Fonts & Graphics 2. Since the border bleeds to the edge of the card, we used our printer’s borderless printing feature. We used a double-stick tape gun to stick the White card to a Black Linen 4.75 x 6.75 inch custom cut card, and adhered the pair to the Avocado A7 Landscape Pocket Folder (rounded point flap). We added a spray of dandelions to the upper left corner of the White 4.75 x 6.75 inch custom cut directions card, and a smaller spray to the bottom left corner of the White 4-bar response card. We created 2 x 4 inch seals using the Label stationery type in PrintingPress Extreme 4.0. We printed the seals on a full sheet of White card stock and then trimmed them down to size. We trimmed another sheet of Black Linen card stock down to 2.25 x 4.25 inch cards, glued the pair together and adhered them to the flap of the Pocket Folder. We used matching Avocado A7 and 4-bar envelopes, and added Custom Image StationeryStamps using the dandelion design.

What’s on the menu?
All the work and costs of planning a wedding can be overwhelming. Saving a little time and money here and there can make quite a difference. We came up with a creative way to cut costs and reduce your workload by combining table place cards and menu into a single card. Place all the place card menus on a table at the entrance to your reception, and guests can peruse the menu as they hunt for their table.

Our PrintingPress design uses a combination of Ecru A2 flat cards and vellum to create an elegant addition to any place setting. We made the vellum layer a place card in PrintingPress, printing the guest names in red using the Alyssa Afternoon font from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings near the top of the vellum card. Next we added the menu to the Ecru card using the Benjamin Caps font from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings. We added a decorative red flourish at the bottom of the card and used the ribbon hole feature to print a marker for a rectangular hole punch at the top of the card. We used a decorative brad purchased at a craft store to join the two cards.

For an elegant table, try our PrintingPress Platinum design. We created a place card the size of a 4-bar folded note card in PrintingPress Platinum and moved the guest’s name to the upper left corner of the card. The guest’s name is printed in brown using the Alyssa Afternoon font from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings, and we added a decorative botanical flourish beneath the name and table. Next we used a floating text box to add the menu to the bottom right corner of the card, expanding the horizontal and vertical spacing of the text. We used an additional floating text box to add the word “Menu” in the Alyssa Afternoon font. Since the leaves run off the edge of the card, we used our printer’s borderless printing feature to print the Ecru card.

For a contemporary twist, try our PrintingPress Extreme 4.0 design. We used an Ecru 4-bar folded card to print the place card, centering the guest’s names in brown using the Alyssa font from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings atop the card. We added a custom border with the shape set to Line (Top) to add a double-line border. For tips on creating double-line borders, see the Extreme Tip from the January 2006 issue of the Mountaincow Monthly. We used a floating text box to add the menu to the bottom of the card using the Times New Roman font. We set the horizontal alignment of the text box to Point Justify so that the point size of each line of text is increased until it fills the text box. Since the border runs to the edge of the card, we used our printer’s borderless printing feature.

Hear Ye, Hear Ye
The huge wedding with every friend, relative, coworker, neighbor or teacher you’ve every known may not be right for you. But even if you’re not inviting everyone you and your fiancé have ever known, you still want to share the news that you’ve tied the knot. Our fun wedding announcements are a great way to spread the news with style.

For a classic look, try our PrintingPress design. We added a photo of the happy couple atop an Ecru A2 folded note card. We set the photo to grayscale and added the couple’s names in black beneath the photo using the Benjamin Caps font from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings. We joined the names with a midnight ampersand using the Alyssa Afternoon font from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings. Inside the card, we added the wedding announcement in black and midnight using the Benjamin Caps font. We paired it with an Ecru A2 envelope lined in Midnight, and added Custom Image StationeryStamps using Ivory sheets.

For a distinctly urban style, check out our layered PrintingPress Platinum design. We printed the text “We did it!” using the Benjamin Caps font from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings above the couple’s photo at the top of a White 6 x 6 inch custom cut card. We added a simple black border to the photo and set the photo to grayscale. We added the details of the nuptials beneath the photo and used a double-stick tape gun to mount the White card onto a Black Square card. Send in a White Square envelope with Custom Image StationeryStamps.

Our PrintingPress Extreme 4.0 design offers a colorfully modern look. We added the text “We did it!” in twilight using the Benjamin Caps font from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings at the top of a White A7 card. Next we added the couple’s photo, converted to grayscale, beneath the text. We added a custom stationery border with the shape set to Line (Bottom), the Fill width set to 3 inches, and filled it in twilight. We added the rest of the announcement text in white atop the border. Since the twilight border runs to the edge of the design, we used our printer’s borderless printing feature. Pair with a White A7 envelope lined in Twilight and send using Custom Image StationeryStamps.
